I don't play Tomb Raider games much (keep this in mind), but ever since I found TR Legend demo on my Xbox 360, I find out... Lara is British?! O_o

Yeah I know that, but I don't play TR games at all. This is the first one I've played, and from the commercials I always thought she was American...

Her upper class background makes her rare grammar mistakes especially distracting. Refined but deadly, part of her charm.

Heh. Maybe it is rare for American gamers to play games with a British person as the central character then. I can sort of see how you might have thought she was American though (if you didn't notice even the hint of the British accent in her speech), seeing as how Legend really does have that Hollywood, American influence, as compared to how the games used to be, imo.

Bloody is a British /Australian colloquialism, not a grammatical mistake. I take it Fish has not seen the movies either then?

Joseph, after a couple of hours playing the .wav files of TR4 and -5 (interesting for itself), I think I found what I meant: in xa17_Andrea2.wav of TR5, Lara says to Pierre,
“If I was you, I’d grab your Cro-Magnon cowboy over there…”.
A real upper-class Brit would not forget her subjunctive mood (meaning it should be "If I were you...", folks). So I'm complaining about it jarring me out of the game for a moment (more than live dragons, demons on horseback, instant healing, etc., etc.;) ).

i even thought she was japanese, when i played the japanese tomb raider version, i thought it was made by a japanese developer, when i played the english version and find something in the internet

To be fair, while I said mistakes were rare in her speech, I can't think of another.
Stella's transcript of the Chronicles scenes has a [sic] after the "was", appropriately enough.

Actually they would. I lived in UK for a couple of years and came across that phrase a few times (and I'm not talking about people that immigrated there). People would use "If I was you..." instead of "If I were you...". Just because they are British doesn't mean automatically that they will speak the "correct English". You can see that when you read some posts on this forum.
Error in the script? Let's face it whoever wrote the script spoke that way. That's all to it.

ok that didnt make much sense so i edited my reply...anywho if ya ever wonder about a game character's background just look on info:)..theres always info on them no matter how ficticious they are..:)

Seriously, though, I'm glad the mistake was in one of the classics, not Legend, or the Legend/Crystal Dynamics bashers would be all over it, claiming that it's a sign that the series is going to hell in a handbasket. :rolleyes:

I did say middle class I certainly wasn't suggesting that everyone speaks "correct English".
If it was the original script writer's error it would have been picked up on in any subsequent proof readings I'm sure and if nothing else the voice over artist (who certainly ought to know better) would I think question such an obvious grammatical error on read through of the script so I still suspect this error is deliberate and intentional.
