Scattered throughout the tombraider series are many references to movies, heres what i've so far found:

Tomb raider I

Skateboard Dude in Natla's Mines

I just realised the skateboard guys lines on level 13 natla's mines are taken (based) from the film taxi

''You firin' at me? You firin' at me? Huh? Ain't nobody else here, so you must be firin' at me!"

Raiders of the Lost Ark

Compare the opening scene in raiders of the lost ark to some of the traps in Tomb raider I (spiked pits, poison darts, boulders and the collapsing temples.) They are basically identical.
References to Indiana Jones are numerous throughout Tomb Raider II as well, most notably by the use of locations from Raiders of the Lost Ark (Himalayas) and The Last Crusade (Venice).

Tomb raider III also steals the idea of traps that can be triggered by walking into a beam of light just as in Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Also The idol from Raiders of the Lost Ark appears in Lara's home.

Tomb raider II

wreck of the Maria Doria

The level design of the wreck of the Maria Doria reveals that the front part of the ship was turned upside down when it sank, referencing the movie The Poseidon Adventure.

Tomb Raider Chronicles

Black isles

References from the film Sleepy Hollow (of course the headless horseman).

i got one that isnt off wikipedia the large hand statue on one of the early levels(that if touched by lara turns her into gold)

In Greek mythology, Midas (in Greek, often referred as king Midas) is popularly remembered for his ability to turn everything he touched into gold with his hand the "Midas touch". A film was made in the late 70's (around the same time as indiana jones).

As Core themselves said, similarities to the Indy films were inevitable, even though they didn't set out with any aim of copying it. It's all good, anyway.

Tomb Raider explores various myths. The tale of Midas is well-known, as is Atlantis. I don't think these are references as such, rather inspirations, and it's not like TR copies them, it simply applies the principles.

I'm just waiting for the tomb raider series to cover something of the Knights Templar.

Who is that in your display picture or is it just a random barbarian or knight?

I just realised the skateboard guys lines on level 13 natla's mines are taken (based) from the film taxi You mean Taxi Driver. Damn good movie too.

You're forgetting a few more obvious ones.

In Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation, during the training level in Cambodia, young Lara happens across a skeleton with a whip and a fedora, if anyone will care to notice.

There is also at least one other line in that game that is ripped directly from the movie. I think it's where Lara rescues Jean-Yves and he says something like, "Be careful Lara, whatever this is, it's something man was not meant to know" (which is what Marcus Brody says to Indy in Raiders), to which Lara replies, "I'm not a man Jean, and I'm always very careful" (Indy says a variant of this line in response).

The golden Idol seen in Lara's treasure froom in Tomb Raider III is based on the one Indy swapped at the beginning of Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Similarly, in Lara's House in the first Tomb Raider, the ark of the covenant can be seen in the main hall. We're never told how or when she happened upon it.

The dinosaurs are obviously influenced by the popular misconceptions we have about them engendered by Jurassic Park.

Nicely spotted, i should of got this.

How about the Island at the end of raiders of the lost ark, looks very similar where the last levels take place on tr1.

I'm just waiting for the tomb raider series to cover something of the Knights Templar... How about the ghost crusaders in the Citadel level of TR4? (Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade)

Also in TR4:
The swarming beetles from The Mummy with Brendan Fraser.

The Desert Railroad => the fight on the circus train at the start of I. J. and the Last Crusade.

Having a "young hero/heroine" intro => same film.

Von Croy and his Arab assassins => Belloch & local henchmen in Lost Ark.

Sword-wielding skeletons => Jason and the Argonauts (great stop-motion animation; includes skeleton confusion when he loses his head).

A map room of the Giza plateau, with a light beam marking locations => Lost Ark

Sidecar motorcycle => Last Crusade.

It's not a knock to say they got ideas elsewhere - they just followed Willy Shakespeare's dictum, "Always steal something good."

It's The Watcher from the 1998 PC game Myth II: Soulblighter. ^_^

Sword-wielding skeletons => Jason and the Argonauts (great stop-motion animation; includes skeleton confusion when he loses his head).

That was a fantastic film! And a fantastic sequence. The idea of dead things wielding swords and stuff also surfaced in The Mummy (1999 version) where Rick plays baseball with a severed mummy head.

i know this is not a movie, but it is also some reference to TR,.. the game Prince pf persia the 1st one,...

skeletons with blades,.... to fight with
shadow of prince of persia you can kill but by moving with out harming him you can win him, (in this case he becomes your shadow again) and in TR we have bacon lara, a half made copy of lara, wich act the way you do, and if you kill her you die aswell,.. so you have to move and do some things in order to win,...

I always thought that was supposed to be the Golden Mask from TR2 Gold.

Wasn't there a similar trap based on walking into the light in TRIII? It was in the temple in the coastal village. It's true it didn't kill you directly but it screwed up your chances of getting a medipack.
