The point of this thread is that im wondering if they gonna not use them as much as tr1. Considering tr1 was mostly all the things in every level, which i didnt mind but in articles they say that they are changing to alot of phyisic based puzzels. but i liked finding keys and such. i guess we havent seen much about block pushing since the lost valley was the only level without block pushing but they still have us finding cogs so i hope they have us findings keys and we know that there is levers but I hope they dont scale it down to a few levers here and a few keys there. and we all saw legends block pushing, they werent really used for pushing out the way or using to get that lever thats too high. They were mostly used for puzzels and blocking bullets. quiet easy to move might i add. im just saying i want all these things to make a return from tr1 to tra and not just physic based puzzels. Bring back searching for keys and actually needing to use the blocks for some extra height. there was none of it in legend thats why it scares me.

We will probably find keys, pull levers, and push blocks in Anniversary. My guess is that interaction like this will be very limited. CD is proud of their innovations from Legend and they'll most-likely use those the majority of the time.
EDIT: I never put my opinion in on the matter, I just realized. Yes, I would absolutely love it if these elements return. However, I do want Lara to speed it up a bit when pushing those blocks! She took ages!

A Tomb Raider without blocks, levers and Keys is not a tomb raider....
Oh wait...its Legend...
:wve:
CD would be stupid to not include any of the above...
Wow, this was a long thing to read:):):)
Back on topic, YES, i want them back because it was fun and not boring at all. It's not AS "sophisticated" method of opening doors AS using Lara's weight and in-game physics but was still fun:)

I understand it took awhile to push but at least it seemed heavy and not like legend when they seemed weightless. I would like them to make it a little struggle but too much like past tomb raiders. now that i think of it i dont remember if aod had block pushin.

Yes, there were blocks in AOD. I hope they have sound effects in TRA that are as good as the ones in TR1. I'm replaying TR1 now and when Lara pushes a block, she sounds like her internal organs are going to pop :p
I think they should vary it up. Sometimes you need a key, sometimes you can kick a door open if it's flimsy enough.
As you get deeper into the hidden, lost worlds and the architecture becomes more solid, titanic in size and strength, it makes sense that a few blasts of bullets or a kick is not going to work... she'll need to find a key to open things up or operate the mechanism (lever, etc).
And since its supposed to be powerful lost technology (not just inferior old stuff that nobody uses anymore)... the crazier the mechanisms the better. I don't want it to look like boring old stuff that (eg) people put forward for building the pyramids. In TR, the pyramids weren't built with ropes and pulleys and 10,000 of pharoah's slaves (zzzzz), they were built with Atlantean mystical technology... The weirder the better. ;) :D

I like ALL of your ideas! :D

Levers and keys look fake. Do you realyl expect to find a working lever or an ancient working keylock? it just not fit in. I want more physical based stuff rather than tjose repetative TR1 levers and keys.

Agreed! I hope they don't totally abolish them, after all - they were a main part of TR1. Heck, a main part of TR1,2,3,4,5 even 6 to a lesser degree and legend to an even lesser one.
Keys and levers should definitely make a return - I don't think it's an outdated system at all - look at Zelda. Older than TR, and it's had the exact same sort of thing since the start, and still does today. However, making it trickier to get to each key and lever would be welcomed :tmb:
I think all the stuff you said will be there, they'll stay true to the original.

:D I had to laugh, using words like outdated when referring to ancient mechanisms. Of course they're outdated, they're ancient! :cln:
I know you were referring to the level design and the components in it. But still...:D

Legend has blocks levers and key(cards) ;) just a few but they are there.
Yes they should use these, this things made Tomb Raider what it is.. these are the things Legend lacked.

Keys in Legend? Are you sure? Where?
Keys in Legend? Are you sure? Where?
I said keycards, I'm not even sure about the plural part either :D
l only remeber the keycard for the lift in Japan, and the code protected gates in Kazakhstan (which we never even got to put the code in for :() l would like to have at least a few keys to find in Anniversary, and l expect there to be pushable blocks, real heavy pushable blocks that take a bit of effort
Hey its Anniversary. :) There should be some blocks levers and keys in! But hopefully many more ways to proceed through the game. AOD started with hardly using them, blocks were for strength upgrade, 2 keys in Serpent Rouge, lots of access cards, no-one complained about that.
Anyway, AE is based on the TR1 storyline, i'm very curious what they come with as to those items!

You're right. It's much more realistic to assume the ancients used their magnetic grappling hooks to swing into a collapsible, one-time-use mechanism to open a door. Keys and switches are so impractical.

Well, we´ve already seen a lever (for the Cog puzzle) and the switch/button in the entrance of Caves. Keys are to come back too...she has an inventory after all, carry those damn keys with you. And blocks...well, if they do, they´ll be Legend´s...
^ True!
And I remember reading about 'key' puzzles being expanded on in TR:A, so we'll definitely get some :)

I hope that means facing terrible perils to get the key and dealing with many others to get to where the door is :D

I remember the Kazakhstan gates; I wrote the code on a piece of paper but never use it... very disappointing.

Legendary statement...
And i don't mean that in the derogatory "TR-Legend" sense ... hehe :wve:
And I agree that if block puzzles return they should show them requireing much more effort.... Everything lara did in legend, pushing blocks, vaulting upwards, somersaults etc all looked painfully easy and effortless.... Bring back the strain, and the grunts and groans....
And I HOPE Keys return....and that they havent been replaced by boringly repetitive boulder and pressure pad 'puzzles'... Sorry, but it's more likely that a Key would open a door than some correctly placed boulder... Just think of the practicalities of it... What if there was a fire? Boulder operated doors clearly wouldn't pass modern day safety regulations...
..hehe :wve:
