Just goes to show how weak this little moronic console is. Wii, step aside and let the more muscular brands do their job. Apparently, you aren't strong enough to support one of the most powerful 3D engines in existance.

Poo to you.

Actually, I'd say Wii does a very good job at exploiting the niche that "more muscular" consoles neglect in favour of multiple layer textures. Good for them and for us, I say - the industry needs much more variety than it has now.

Not necessarily. What Wii provides in base fun can easily be taken and emulated by Microsoft and Sony. Just take Guitar Hero for instance. What Wii provides is nothing new.

However, they are shooting themselves in the foot by not providing strong hardware to support the next generation 3D engines. Just look at the upcomming anticipated game Crysis.

As much as everybody always comes back to "its gameplay, not graphics!" the truth still reveals itself that graphics are extremely important!! If it wasn't, there'd be no reason to have generations. NES would still be the current gen because that had perfectly fine gameplay.
Hoorah for photorealism!

The graphics doesn't matter, really. Wii has focused on the gameplay experience instead of graphics. Even if it's weak, it still has great games like Zelda and Wii sport. The graphics doesn't make the games more fun, it's just a tiny +. Some of my friends who only care about the graphics barely "play" their games, all they do is run around along the walls so they can admire the texture quality and effects.

Yet Zelda in the large sense has been shunned by the masses and Wii sports is quickl becomming a bore.

Yet games like Halo 2, Counter strike, GRAW and surprisingly... Black shooter seem to still keep the masses playing. Why? Eye-Candy AND Good gameplay.

Personally I think there's a good side to this. When something, a game or game engine, is available on every console out there, it often ends up lamed, unable to do its original task as well as it would've if it was kept fairly specialised to one or two systems.

Wii Sports maybe becomes boring quickly for you, but I have played wii sports tons of time and I love it and Zelda gets "boring" after a second play though, most adventure games gets boring for me after a second playthough.
The really good games like Metroid Prime 3 and Super Smash Bros Brawl for Wii has not been released yet. But they basicly have the same graphics like the previous games except improved gameplay. People have enjoyed playing with that kind of graphics before, there's no reason to suddenly dislike it because of the new technology.

Halo 2, GRAW has good gameplay, yes. I see the eye-candy as a bonus. It's nothing that makes the game superior.

True though I so want people to stop going on an on about how Wii is a competitve equal to X-box 360 and PS3. It just isn't. It neither commands the market share of games nor provides more hair raising titles. Its just...blah.

Many people disagree, but if a Game looks Amazingly realistic, it wont be able to make awkaerd gameplay good...

How do you know that? Any links or anything? Or is it just your personal opinion?

According to NextGen Wars (http://nexgenwars.com/) Wii has already sold over 4 million consoles why the PS3 is still on 1,3 million sold units. Note that these numbers are just esitmates.

Most professional online gamers and weekend warriors from both NA and Europe prefer PS3 and 360 titles.

Sold estimates are there but I also want to see return estimates cause I tell ya most people weren't trilled with wii.

Of course gameplay is important. Whats a beautiful game that handles like a moldy turd?

But cutting edge graphics add a lot to a game. Theres nothing wrong with some of those friends that wander around admiring the textures in a well designed game. I do that in many games. I love to admire the hard work put into the visuals of some games.

Legend is a perfect example. Awesome graphics but barely decent gameplay.

Wii is more like an "all-age-console" with games like super mario and stuff like that which "professional gamers" think is childish and classify the console as a "kids' toy" like Microsoft calls it. It's quite predictable that they choose PS3 and 360.

Here are some interesting sales figures from japan which, of course, is Sony's heartland. The figures came from Gameinformer:

Japanese market researcher Enterbrain says that Wii outpaced the PS3 in Japanese hardware sales in January by nearly three to one. Enterbrain says 405,000 Wii systems were sold that month, compared to about 148,000 PS2 consoles. In total, the company estimates Nintendo has sold 1.4 million units so far in Japan, while Sony has sold 614,000.

"There could be a price cut for the PS3 by the end of the year, and more software titles will hit the market. I expect the PS3 to be doing better after a while," Enterbrain president Hirokazu Hamamura told Reuters. "Of course, the Wii will keep running ahead all the while."

I think the PS2 in the quote is a typo.

I don't think that a game has to look photorealistic in order to look good.Just look at Okami,a beautiful game far from realistic.
Yes,ps3 and xbox 360 are much more powerful than Nintendo's Wii,everybody knows that.
Will ALL ps3 and xbox 360 games have better graphics than Wii's titles?
I doubt it.

For me,the most annoying thing about Nintendo atm,it's their marketing. They're trying too hard to convince us that playing with a Wii is "super cool" and "trendy"...I've heard of people rushing out to buy a DS or a Wii just because they are trendy now. Those are people who have never played a game in their life and just want to buy something to "impress" their friends.
In the long run,i think most of these people will buy (tops) five games in a whole year and they wll never be bothered to play again.

Basically it's the same marketing technique that Sony used in the first days of PS1...

Nintendo will get by on exclusivity alone...

Most gamers will make a choice between the PS3 & 360 (like me) then buy a Wii regardless. In terms of sales and market share, who comes out on top in such a scenario? :tea:

OK, they must step aside, because you said so (ha!), and just forget the fact that they are selling like hot cakes, because Nintendo have a good reputation of high quality games, and are refusing to take part in the *****y console war.

I do not think you are seeing the point of the Wii console. It is innovative and fun, and at no stage have Nintendo ever tried to compair it to the 360, or the PS3. Many people have it as a second console. They are doing something different, if it is not to your taste, then fine.

It brings something new, and fresh, and for that i am glad, because what is the point of having 3 consoles which are exactly the same?

Zelda being shunned, Wii sports boring! Oh dear, sales figures, and internet reviews do not agree. Zelda has solid reviews, and you just have to look around this forum, to see there are plenty of people here who are quite enjoying Zelda, and the Wii.

You missed the point completely Illuminati:

a) Most people who bought Zelda happen to do it because of all the hype generated because of the success of the previous titles. Now however, many gamers I know who are DIE HARD Zelda fans were completely flabergasted at the poor excuse of a sequel.

b) Same with the Wii. People buy it because everyone things its the "It" thing (as previously pointed out) yet in the end they are gravely disappointed by its lack of good games and grapics.

So in short... in the long run; Wii will be smashed. It is inevitable.

and NC:

I use the term weekend warriors because these bunch happen to have a life, a career and even wives. They are hobbyists rather than MMORPG bunches who happen to spend the whole day infront of a game screen.

It is not so different gameplay wise from the most hyped Zelda game, which was Ocarina of Time, but it is a totally different game, and it is not a sequel. It is entirely new, and do not forget this is a gamecube game, which went back to the old style because 'hardcore' fans did not like the change of direction from the windwaker, so obviously these people are never happy. Anyway, i consider myself a fan, i have been playing Zelda from the age of 12, and i know a few hardcore fans (and some on this forum) who are utterly delighted with the twighlight princess.

b) Same with the Wii. People buy it because everyone things its the "It" thing (as previously pointed out) yet in the end they are gravely disappointed by its lack of good games and grapics.

Perhaps it is considered an 'it' thing, but i certainly do not consider myself to be a person who buys the 'in' thing, which is why i have always liked Nintendo, because they have something different to offer, and do not follow the rest like sheep, and neither do I.

So in short... in the long run; Wii will be smashed. It is inevitable.

.

They have a bigger stage now than they have ever had, plus all the 3rd party support to go with it. People are opening their eyes, and playing games like Metroid for the first time, yes GC game sales are on the increase, and many people are seeing that this really was a good console which they over looked. Even if the popularity of the Wii goes on decline, Nintendo have a hardcore fan base which will not shift, because these people have been playing these games for years. Even though the GC was not as popular as the Xbox and the PS2, it was still a success for Nintendo, in that they made profit from every bit of hardware and software sold, were as the same can not be said for MS, or Sony, who often operate at a loss, and have to depend on third parties. Not so much Microsoft, more Sony, who depend on third parties much more.
