It makes sense because pierre is in every grecce level apart from 1 and larson was originally going to be in every peru level apart from 1, but then he shows up again in sanctary of the scion.
I bet that would of ruined the isolation atmosphere a little bit, nice find.
yere, That level is my all time fav, hope he dosn't appear in level 2 in AE:)
Ah yes. I used to have a magazine that had a picture of Lara fighting Larson at the beginning of the level, where you normally fight the wolves.
Wouldnt have made any sense though, since he was supposed to steal the Scion piece from Lara after she got it.

I think that's why he removed him. Well, on the other hand Pierre also appears before Lara could have been getting the Scion.

Nice find Phlip, I am glad he didn't appear in that level.

Isnt that because Natla hired Pierre to get the Scion piece for her? I always asumed she got Lara to get the first piece, Pierre to get the second and Larson to get the third, and to steal the first from Lara.

Yeah, on GameSpot I saw that pictures and instead of fighting red dinosaurs in Lost Valley, it was a crocodile !!

Larson's final appearance in the Sanctuary of the Scion always confused me. If he was hunting after the third piece like Pierre, then why wasn't he encountered earlier? I just figured Natla had sent him in to kill Lara and take the Scion etc., but that still doesn't explain how he managed to find his way inside that chamber before Lara did. Unless, of course, there's another route Natla knew of that no one else did. Does anyone have any theories?

I think you've answered your own question there. If Larson was one step ahead of her in the same way that Pierre always seems to be one step ahead of her then that would explain his appearance in that chamber.
As you say taking those earlier encounters out mean what happens later doesn't make entire sense. I wonder why they took them out? Perhaps Larson is just better as hired muscle rather than an adventurer(?) like Pierre, he just doesn't seem bright enough to figure things out for himself. Thats just a theory.

Thats just a theory. That's what I figured too. I always assumed he was just sent into the ruins after Lara in and followed her in the same manner as he did in the Tomb of Qualopec, except that encounter logically took place outside the tomb while Lara was leaving. Natla and her henchmen did seem to know that Lara was on her way out of the Sanctuary, so perhaps they were there searching for it already, but this is never made clear.
In cores AE, he was going to appear in sanctuary of the scion aswell:

Good find. I've seen the picture of crocodiles in the Lost Valley, but never seen Larson in the early Peru levels. And I agree with Pablo that it would have ruined the isolation. The first few levels were quite creepy, being in the dark silent caves, so Larson would have spoiled it a bit xP

I've never seen that picture before. That's new news to me! :D
da tomb raider!

Cool. I'm glad he wasn't in that level, though.
natla probably knew that lara was one of the best raiding tombs... but once she new or realice her true interest then she would have refused to give the scion back to her,.. so she send larson after her to intercept her after she got the first one,...pierre was already on his way,.. he obvioulsy got throu a different and not so convintional way to the scion... of course lara was fast enought as to catch him and fight him there,.. all the previous encounter means that lara was able to catch him, and he was just trying to get rid of her,.. but as he wasnt able, he just run away locking lara out with the animals instead of helping her,... of course lara manage to kill him,... as larson,. so natla herself let her go for the third piece, as she probably knew that to get that one, as tipical pirates cliche movie, you need the first two pieces in order to get the third,.. so she just fallows her,.. and wait for her at the possibly known exit,.. remember that she was already alive back then, so probaly the sanctuary didnt change so much since her imprisonment,....
thats my theory
From Core's AE, I thought that was lara....
No, lara was hiding behind a pillar:

In this book http://www.amazon.co.uk/Official-Tomb-Raider-Files/dp/184222378X/sr=8-1/qid=1171306720/ref=sr_1_1/202-9883927-4183027?ie=UTF8&s=books
there is a section on the enemies of Tomb Raider, and:
Swept down a massive waterfall, Lara discovers the Lost Valley, along with its prehistoric raptors and alligators, all hungry for fresh meat.
Now I don't know whether or not this was simply a mistake in the text or whether or not there were originally crocodiles intended for the Lost Valley, but I'll have a further rummage through my TR books and see if I can find an image to scan.
There's also an image of a panther (supposed to be a wolf?) accompanying a screenshot of the Peru enemies, and a rather debatable Atlantean creature that I don't recognise.
Will try and get my scanner hooked up.
not really, you see lara behind the column and the camera keeps moving and then you see someone walking,.. even if you can realice who that one is,.. it is probably pierre
it looks like the very end of sanctuary of the scion, and sinse the camera moves, lara still stays there because larson is quite far away.
pierre didn't ever show up in egypt.
going offline now, later.:wve:

well larson was already out of sight by then,... i dont think that was in egypt,.. on the contrary,.. i thought that scene was from the tihocan tombs, where lara fights pierra and after getting some bullets and the scion she fights the centaur.... of course it could be also from before... but i dont think that guy could have been larson, first is not dressed as a cowboy, on the contrary, too dark as pierre was
