Mainly, if you check Eidos main site, http://eidosinteractive.com/games/comingsoon.html
it is not only TR that wont be on Xbox... all games to be released in the following months are not submitted for an Xbox release...
unlike the previous year where Eidos released all her games on Xbox platform.

This is mainly due to Xbox failure in the market as compared to Sony's PS...
i have many friends who have bought an Xbox, but they do prefer playing games at my house with the PS2...

Even Microsoft's moderated www.Xbox.com forum has complaints about the system's failure.
Here is your proof...
http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2006/08/xbox_gamers02.html

so i dont think they are ready to take this risk again...
Xbox sales are so low and the company may suffer of a very slow profit gained...

Sony - 2 Microsoft - 0

Sony & Microsoft are fighting it out in my head. I'm definitely getting a Wii, I just need info like this to make the other decision...

I dont really believe in all that talk of the consoles failing......when i got my PS2 back when it first launched, i had people constantly tellin me that I shouldnt have bought it, PS2s are failing all over the place.....
Ive heard the same thing about PS3.....that systems all over the place are burning out and failing.....My PS3 is doing just fine, as are the PS3s of the other 5 guys i know who have it, and my cousins Xbox360 is fine a year later....

Dont believe in all the hype about consoles faling, its all BS.....and i bet most of the cases of consoles failing are people who abuse the system, or leave it on for ridiculously long periods of time.....

Well, the fact PS2 demolished the XBOX doesnt mean its going to happen again.

Still, Playstation is a system that is being underestimated a lot of times. During Playstation 1, no one would dare to believe it would be the number one console of the generation.

During Playstation 2, everyone put their money on the Dreamcast.

During Playstation 3, everyone puts their money on any console besides the PS3.

Everyone = Media/Sony haters. XD

The Sony fanbase is strong enough to make PS3 number one again... its capable...

My point, Id wait before buying a next-gen console... And while doing so, Im putting all my money on the PS3.

Future TR's will be released on the 360, they have already established a fan-base due to legend. I am severley disappointed that because of 'Sales' anniversary will not be ported onto Xbox. They could atleast do that and make it playable on the 360, so you dont really have to make next gen graphics.

What the heck?!Are you guys mad? This is talking about the Xbox not the 360.Of course Xbox sales are down.It isn't hip anymore and unlike the PS2 it doesn't have the biggest fanbase in the world.

Yet anyways. The 360 is doing very good worlwide specially in USA

Microsoft has publicly acknowledged the unusually high XBOX 360 failure rate and issued refunds to consumers who paid ~$130 in maintenance fees. I've personally received a refund check from MS.

Sony's PS3 was bested by Nintendo's Wii in the general consumer market this time out due to price point and unit availability. Casual gamers, who outnumber the likes of devout XBOX and PS supporters, opted for a reasonably priced and comparatively available product.

With PS3 units now sitting on store shelves in Japan and the United States, Sony will probably delay price cuts until late 2008, perhaps in the hopes that coveted software releases will spur an increase in sales at the device's initial price point.

Time will tell, though it's certainly too early to discern a clear winner in the battle for so called next generation console consumers.

The cited web page is dated August 2006. It is very old news and MS has alos taken steps to improve on cooling the system. The cited problem with over heating is the same claim that was leveled at PS3 during the same time period when used at gaming displays. If you do not provide adequate ventilation for high powered machines they will overheat, consoles or PCs. Many games do not do so and then want to blame the console.

My son has a 360 and plays it probably more than I would like him to and it has never had problems.

PS3 problems is with Sony's mismanagement of the launch and their price differential compared to the 360.

I hope sony isn't waiting for releases to spur sales, I don't see any games I want that need a PS3 till at least next year. Heck, didn't I see somewhere now that TR8 might end up pushed into early 2009 for a release? Maybe the future board??? :whi: At any rate, I don't plan to even buy a PS3 till early 2008, with my tax refund... :p

I waiting at least that long maybe longer, The Naughty Dog project is the only PS3 exclusive that has sparked my interest. I hear that Sony is bundling Casino Royale for the first group of European purchasers. Talk about a desperation move.:)

Zelda has a following as hardcore as TR used to. The Wii is not just for casual gamers. Metroid, Zelda - not casual. The PS2 is a great example of how to support a fan base, Sony are clever in being loyal in releasing great games for it still, including TRA...Original Xbox was a Halo vehicle, that's why I bought it, Halo 3 is the only reason I'll get a 360, once the price drops as predicted...but PC is best. :) Console fanboy-dom always makes me smile, wryly...

That's a shame that the 360 is failing in some ways. Having three major console manufacturers fighting it out keeps the industry fresh and makes them strive to be the best and thus the quality games keep coming.

In saying that, I haven't yet bought a next-gen console and probably won't for a very long time. Part of the reason for this is that I can't afford one and the other part of the reason is because there are just soooo many great titles on the horizon for my PS2 and PSP that I just don't NEED a new console yet - I haven't finished with my current ones and probably won't be finished with them for ages.

If and when I do decide to buy a new console it'll most likely be a PlayStation one as I already have so many PSOne and PS2 titles I still like to play. Backwards compatibility is a big part of that buying decision for me.

I honestly don't understand all this console hate. I'll buy a PS2 when the new TR comes out...so it really doesn't matter to me. I have an Xbox, 360, and GC, and I love them dearly. They suit all my gaming needs, and now that TR will be on PS only (unless I get a better PC) I'll but a PS2 (no reason to get a PS3 yet)

face it...both consoles will be fine...and at the moment, I think 360s doing marvelous...I wouldn't give mine up for the world.

Honestly...the only reason I feel the constant need to take up for the Xbox is because so many PS extremists love to critisize it...just play your games (whatever ones you have) and enjoy them.

Upper bold: source? Am I not comprehending this right, or are you saying no games in the following months will be released for the 360? If so ... that's complete bull and I would like to know where you got that from. If you're talking about last gen Xbox, sales are low for it because everyone wants a 360 and no games are being released for it because MS wanted the gaming companies to use the 360.

Same thing applies to Eidos. If they don't release Tomb Riader on the 360 it would be stupid, if they don't release it on the Xbox, well it's because MS doesn't want them to.

Bottom bold: Again, are you talking about the 360 or the Xbox? If you mean the Xbox, duhhhhhhhh. People want a 360. If you're talking about the 360 then I'd like to know where you're getting your info from.

To T/C...please clarify if you are referring to the Xbox...or the Xbox 360. They are separate machines, and it makes perfect sense that support for the Xbox would be nothing at this point. MS is pushing it's new machine.

As to the consumeraffairs article you directed us to...it IS an interesting read. I have not had the overheating problem, personally on my 360. The problem DR gives me is when I attempt to have it read the disc...once it recognizes it, it doesn't have any trouble and doesn't freeze on me or anything.

That said...it appears you are taking two distinct things you noticed: the consumeraffairs.com article and the "coming soon" from eidos and have assumed that eidos is dropping support due to the failure issue. The conclusion of this, based on that assumptive reasoning, is the failure of the 360 as a whole (merely inferred in your post compared to the absolute statements that followed in response).

So, please clarify exactly which console you are actually referring to.

this is a 360 image right...

and then, why did MS on earth release two consoles in that short time...
well, not even 5 years have passed...

second, compare the consoles on which Eidos released their games last year and check the coming soon...

check it carefully...
why is that?
why did all past games ha dXbox releases and the coming soon ones won't...?
and i am speaking of both consoles.

Hrm...this is why I asked for a bit of clarification earlier. While the one article was interesting (the consumeraffairs one) it seemed you took two facts and connected them.

Outside of some sort of official announcement by a development company, I find that most of them are more than happy to develop games that will sell. Whether or not the hardware works on them is less important to their bottom line.

I could see a developer dropping support for a console due to low sales....and that's about it. Console hardware integrity simply doesn't enter as a relevent factor to their bottom line. (Oh I suppose a smaller, more idealisitic developer would do that, but....)

Ironically, I can turn this topic around with some speculation of my own. It seems to me that all of these PS2 releases that keep popping up may just be because of the not-so-brisk sales of the PS3! There's not a lot of PS3 excitement around my way, and they're sitting on the shelves unsold while Wii's can't be kept in stock!
