ok, maybe its just me, but it looks like the circled area is a blocked doorway or cave. maybe we shoot it to get inside?

Its a ledge because there are multiple ways through the levels, it sticks out from the wall, and looks like a CD designed ledge.

ok, look around the edges of the "ledge". you can see blackness,there's something behind it.

Just look above it...it's a ledge that when you climb on leads into a little tunnel under the bridge, you can see it clearly.
