View Full Version : FLARES, PersonaLightSource or... NOTHING?
I wonder if Lara will have some sort of lighting equipment with her... I personally prefer the red flares-their light gave misterious and magical atmosphere to the levels... The PLS -I didn't like very much. What do you think?

None of these were in the original so I don't think they will be in TRA. I would of liked flares to have returned, but the flares and PLS/LED have not been confirmed by Eidos/Crystal Dynamics, if they were going to be in the game I am sure they would have been mentioned.

That pretty much sums it all up. I didn't like the PLS. But I wouldn't mind flares at all. I get scared at time when it's really dark and something comes.....:D
I hope for TRL PERU YOUNG LARA style flares :)
I like the flares. they gave a special.. atmosphere. but lara should be able to hold them instead of throwing them away immediately.
Have you ever hold the flare-button in legend? IMHO a nice animation :)
Nothing at all...adds to the sense of being alone :)

She will hold it for a few seconds and then she will throw it.
i still preffer the flares,.. you can trowthen all around to see the whole place instead of trying to get close to something to finally see,....besides its creepier to just see the bad guys from spot to spot because of the dark rooms,...
I'd love to see the red flares again! :jmp: They really did add to the atmosphere! :hug: But then you needed them in the old TR's, sometimes it was so dark you couldn't tell if there was a corner ahead that some creature might be behind. :eek: But so far everything is so bright in the TRA trailers you don't need the extra light... :hea: It really made it feel creepier sneaking around in the dark caverns of the tombs in the old games. I could almost feel and smell the cold moldy dampness of them as I played... :mis:
For this game I prefer (maybe) red flares. For future TR games I think the Legend flashlight is the way to go. I wouldn't mind it in A:E either.

But only if they really have a use within the game. If there are no dark areas then they simply become an accessory. :)

I think for now I'll go with nothing, no lights or flares. Although I might change my mind if I see something they do that looks great...
I definitely don't want those red flares from Legend. I didn't like the ambience they gave, the "redness" of everything. If they use flares, I'd prefer a white/yellow light source. I want to see the colours of the environment in their full glory not masked by a tint.
Please don't hate me thevman... :D
Why would I hate you, blackmoor? :hug: I like the way you think. :tmb: As long as the flares show some color instead of everything being washed out I'm OK with that. ;) But just a small area and it falls off into more unknown darkness!!! :mis: I want the scary creepiness back! :D

I prefer the PLS, but there will most-likely be flares. If there isn't either, nobody has any right to complain though. There was nothing in the original. :)
Flares luv. An absence of lighting devices means an absence of dark environments, which is a big no-no.

I enjoyed using flares 5409736451039 times more than personal light source. Yea, I really hate personal light source.

i dont think there will be any flares...
it is still inspired y the original and CD didnt add anything new except this hook, although Lara did have it at the begining...
they kept it bcz it was stupid to get rid of it...

I think there will be nothing in Anniversary, like the first TR. But if I had to choose I'll choose the flares of course ! :)
PLS is too modern for this game. There's not the same ambiance in Anniversary than in Legend.

Flares are a good possibility. If there won't be any flares in the game, there will be nothing else to replace them IMO.
I hope flares will be back. Maybe the flares from TR4? The greeno ones? It willl be like celabrating all of the games' anniversary and CD would show that they dont think that not only the 1st game means sth for them

don't forget that this isn't an EXACT remake
My first choice would be Legend's LED, but if the Flares are always better than no lighting devices.
