I just finished watching two movies yesterday(300 and TMNT). Here's what I think of the movies.

300

The feel of the movie and the atmosphere was delivered perfectly. It is highly violent and full of nudity content but what differentiate the movie from the rest is that it it's approach on lighting that gives the authenthic feeling in 300. It tells a story about couragious and brave spartan warriors. I simply love their fighting scenes, it's looks real, modern and original. Although I kept wondering do the Spartans really going around battling war with only red cloaks and black underwear?
I gave 300 5/5 stars;) Possibly one of the best movie of the year for me.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT)

http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/7919/tmntposteraaq0.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

The movie continues where TMNT3 left off after they defeated the evil Shredder. .It really have the feelings of current CGI movies like The Incredibles, Monsters House and Finding Nemo movies. I have a blast watching the turtles jumping over rooftops and scale New York buildings sometimes it feels like a real life enviroments. The main story plot is kinda lame (about a guy who finds a portal to another dimension*geez, sounds like Legend:rolleyes:*, but hey I survived Monsters House, I can survive this) but they really deliver the family value and brotherhood relationship.
Aside from that, I'm very relieved the franchise is back on track and I guiltily admitted that I want a sequeal to these loveable turtles :o :D TMNT 4/5 stars.
(just found out there's a TMNT game on 360 developed by Ubisoft!Yay!)

Still to see 300, but I loved TMNT :D

Saw the ads for 300. It looked very odd, the visual style of it, like you were watching an FMV from a video game. Nice to see it was based on the work of Frank Miller, who wrote the famous graphic novel Batman: The Dark Knight Returns.

Never seen TMNT, though I saw the previous three films. When I saw the ads, I thought TMNT would be a box office and critical failure, but it's got very positive reviews so far.

I still haven't seen 300, but I want to. I hear it's really good. I saw Hills Have Eyes 2 instead... Can you say LAME? What a mistake that was. Don't go see it!

TMNT beats 300, I literally laugh my ass off. The turtles still got their power and their faithful fans are still here, growing up and all.

Gosh, I remember ninja turtles since I was little and here it is today still making some noise~! It's just tells us the best franchise still stands tall to this day(ex:tomb raider, transformers to name a few;))

Looky what I found:D:jmp:

"It's sequel time, dudes," said Harvey Weinstein, co-chairman of the Weinstein Co., which is distributing "TMNT" overseas. "We knew from the inception of this project that that the `TMNT' characters would continue to resonate with audiences across the world."

Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Media By Numbers LLC. Final figures will be released Monday.

1. "TMNT," $25.45 million.

2. "300," $20.5 million.

3. "Shooter," $14.5 million.

4. "Wild Hogs," $14.4 million.

5. "The Last Mimzy," $10.2 million.

7. "The Hills Have Eyes 2," $10 million.

8. "Reign Over Me," $8 million.

9. "Pride," $4 million.

I still haven't seen 300, but I want to. I hear it's really good. I saw Hills Have Eyes 2 instead... Can you say LAME? What a mistake that was. Don't go see it!lol, I don't really enjoy the first one either. He has a dog but he kept him in the old car, and go in with his faithful baseball bat. I mean how crazy and stupid is that. That cost him a thumb though.

I saw 300 yesterday with 11 other friends! It made me laugh at inappropriate moments, as everyone had a differing accent- one was American, One was Scottish and his wife was incredibly British!

The way it was made and looked was very nice, and It made the film an good watch, if a bit over the top.

Shark Blade, do keep in mind that 300 has been out a couple weeks longer than TMNT.

300's current US and worldwide gross:

US:$168,507,482
worldwide:$247,507,482

It's too early to tell if TMNT will actually make more than 300 in the end.

I haven't seen any of them, but I'm ansious to see 300, it looks amazing, the photography of the movie is beautifull, glad you liked it...:)

About TMNT, i love those turtles, but since there is no more Shreder, it's just not the same like the old times of the 80's or 90's cartoons, but I will see it anyway..

I would credit 300 only with finally breaking the stereotypical "One Dominant strong partner" senerio that has been plauging Hollywood for quite a long time.

300 depicted Leonidas and his Queen as equally strong and intelligent; both fighting their own battles with confidence, loyalty and out of best of intentions. I would say its a good couple's movie (minus the overwhleming ridiculous historical drawbacks... but that's anotehr story.)

TMNT... I don't think I'll even bother.

I don't plan on seeing 300 but I am SO going to TMNT! :tmb:

Don't mean to offend, but I fell asleep during 300...I just don't find the movie going anywhere besides slaughtering Persians. The only twist/advancement to the plot came just seconds before the ending, and that was given away already at the beginning - talk about ruined/undeveloped suprise...

As for TMNT...I spent all my money on 300...

TMNT was extremely enjoyable - very funny, great action and nice storyline! Made an absolutely excellent film! Favourite film of this year for me. Plus, I loved the turtles for years so it was nice to see them on the big screen again :D.

300: How was the slowmotion scenes in the fighting modern and original? Slowmotion in fighting has been overused since The Matrix.

TMNT: Also, I hated Michelangelo lines such as "What do we do now?"? Uhm. Duh?

Shark_Blade
01-04-07, 11:10
yeah I admit it was kind of like the Matrix:p(but not with the swishy stop-timer camera gimmick). The action is slow but every blow and attack seems very lethal and real.

Yeah, the fighting scenes were awesome and I loved them all, it's just that I didn't find them very original. The fighting scenes are the best part about the movie. The story is pretty thin, but when based on a graphic novel, they can't do much with it I guess.

I liked Leonidas wife though. Wow, cool as hell. ^^ And hot tempered.

Loved the "This... is... SPARTAAAAA!". Haha, and it doesn't seem like I'm the only one. Couple days ago a drunk was walking around with a women behind him while yelling "THIS IS SPARTAAAA!!" and throwing things at store windows.

Probably because she knew it was the only way that sick **** would let her speak to the other men, so they could send the army. It made me sick to watch that, but I did enjoy it when she kills him :mis:

I liked Queen Gorgo's character, she's was a strong woman, and Leonidas treated her as her equal, which is something rarely seen in movies.

I thought they paraded around in even less than that in real life!:cln:

I am DYING to see 300, Classics was my fave course at college so I would like to see how it's all portrayed, even though it's based on a graphic novel...

No one wants to go and see it with me though!:(
