View Full Version : ADD BLACK BARS to IC's

Yeah i know this isn't anything much but I was kinda annoyed by the fact that in LEGEND when you do an interactive cutscene, it'd just be like a cutscene but there were no black bars while in cutscenes they have them.

I think they should add the black bars to bring more of the cinematic feeling;)

*now people don't say black bars just blocks more of the picture - well because this is a game it does in a sense but since it's a cutscene we're bringing, it doesn't really mean that way but if you know movies and aspect ratios well, you wouldn't say widescreen is as worse as fullscreen (when widescreen should've been the fullscreen- a little explanation is required for this in order for some to understand. It also depends on how it's originally presented)
As said by thevman:
I'd find it odd to have the black bars in an IC, black bars tell me it's a vid and to sit back and enjoy. It would catch me off guard if all of a sudden I had to hit buttons during it. I'd say leave the IC's full screen so we know we are still playing and not just watching a vid section... ;)
People (whether they wanted the IC's or not) to be challenging should really look in to this and this would be challenging indeed.

Huh? You mean make it widescreen?

Uh-oh..this is gonna be harder to explain..well no that's not what I mean.

I mean, the game has options to make it widescreen (to fit your widescreen TV and you'd still see the black bars) but I'm just saying they should add black bars in interactive cutscenes like they do in cutscenes. (so yeah, widescreen I guess).

Hmm...I only played Legend once so I didn't even notice that the real cutscenes had black bars while the IC's did not. That might have saved me some trouble since I was tense during *every* cutscene waiting for screen prompts to show up :p

Wow really:eek:?!?! I'm sure it's pretty noticeable in everyone's eyes!:D Lol well I gues me too since after playing Legend a few times, I kinda realized it...

*shrugs* I can be out of it sometimes... For example, I kept waiting for an IC during the cutscene with Takamoto because I expected for Lara to get herself shot at any moment. Then during the hang-gliding IC, at first I thought it was fully playable so I tried to steer Lara. When that didn't work, I just sat back figuring it was a cool cutscene. When the big, giant yellow 'Y' appeared on the screen I muttered, "What the hell is that?" and by the time I realized, Lara had already splatted into the building :p

LOL:vlol: Well I guess that's another reason why they should add black bars:D I mean, it may fool you into thinking that this scene would just be a normal cutscene having Lara do the stunts for you until you realize later you gotta press the buttons yourselves:D sounds challenging to me - well suprising.

I would be happier if they removed the black bars altogether - they look ridiculous. As it is, nowadays I always play Legend with a modding that removes the black bars (the No Blackouts or no More Tips moddings).

I fully support adding black bars. And to further enhance the cinematic feeling, I think they should do away with the button presses altogether.

I did not like those annoying black bars, seriously, they just annoy my eyes, I say they should one EVER return when FMV's are back but FMV's won't be back so no black bars.

Why excatly does this matter?

I liked the widescreen black bars too. :) Makes it more cinematic.

Anybody noticed how TR1's FMV's were 2:35:1 (or even bigger), and TRA's cutscenes are 1:85:1? (I'm not complaining, by the way.)

I don't find it necessary.

It goes into a kind of mini-cutscene which I find unusual.

I second that :D

Thanks. I'm glad I'm not the only one :D

Um, this is pointless lol, they shouldn't have added Interactive Cutscenes in the first place due to all the complains they got for Legend.

Hang on no they shouldn't becuase it's an interactive cutscene and you do stuff in it not watch stuff and not do anything

Cinematics should IMO, i like important parts of the game to be viewd in widescreen, but the IC'S shouldnt be IMO, it's in-game, so it wouldnt be like widescreen :p

that's what I was trying to say:D:tmb:!I liked the widescreen black bars too. :) Makes it more cinematic.

I'm glad you noticed that:tmb: And I couldn't believe it either! And the black bars aren't with the FMV - it was actually 2:35:1:D

Well for those who don't like black bars, maybe those black bars should appear without fading in...'cause I know they fade in a lot or sometimes. And that's when they make you feel they're blockign something. Well people shouldn't complain because the PSP version got it worse - the black bars come closer from top and bottom and they actually blocked more picture from how it was originally presented. I just don't get why they had to do that.

I've played Legend countless times, and I never really noticed it either.

I actually dislike the black bars....

To me, they don't create a 'cinematic feel'....and they just shrink the screen size, annoyingly...

Some one who doesn't understan how "widescreen" works...

Actually, quite a few people don't understan how widescreen works...for shame.

I would prefer to have standard for the interactive cutscenes just b/c I wanna be able to see the buttons that I have to press really good. Actually im not too good with the circle and square button b/c I have to look back at the controller. When I played RE4, I had some troubles with the interactive cutscenes b/c of pressing the button within in a few seconds. Widescreen would work better for the mini-movies and regular cutscenes.:)

Yeah but like what thevman said:

People wants the cutscenes to be more challenging right well there ya go:D And trust me the black bars won't block much of it.

I know it's really hard to explain - I made a thread about it loooong ago...and it'd be hard to find it now..
