View Full Version : No Demo Until Late May?

Well, as nearly everybody has read/heard the review from Ops2,

the question about wether or not a demo was included has popped up a couple of times and seeing as the answer was

No

it got me thinking, the Legend demo was released in March with Ops2 and wasn't available for download until a couple of days before release,

for AE there was no demo in this months issue of Ops2, therefore meaning that the demo will most likely be released with the next issue, late next month,

so either the demo will be available for download first this time and will be released at the end of the month (most speculated demo release date)

or it will be released a couple of days before the game is launched,

i fear that the demo will be released in late may, possibly the same day of the games release,

but most people will be buying the game on release day, therefore the demo is pretty pointless,

so my question, or topic of discussion if you will, is

do you think that they'll even release a demo, and if they release it on launch day then will you bother downloading it?

I think they'll release a demo, yes.

I think they Might release a PC demo before they release a PS2 one, and I don't think we'll get a PS2 demo anytime before May 25th.

again, this is all speculation (its probably correct, but speculation none the less). besides, when its late may you'll have the game so dont worry.

I thought the same thing to be honest.
I'm not certain but on the 'legend' release they timed the download within a couple of days of magazine demo release dates.

So unless a magazine has EXCLUSIVE rights to a demo I get the feeling that the PC demo won't be this month. :(

Which seems silly given the multitude of videos and media we have been bombarded with just lately.

If the mags can play a demo, buggy or not, THEN WHY CAN'T I!! :)

I'm quietly hoping that magazines that haven't released yet will have a demo. I KNOW it's stupid cos they would have hired the Philharmonic to promote it last month....................

But it's a hope.

If there's a PC demo, I'm definitely downloading it :D I do think that there will be a demo. I'm hoping that it will come out sooner rather than later.

I think the demo is most likely. Eidos France told fans late March about one to be released end of April. I can't see Eidos announcing it and finally not releasing it. And I also agree with Rivendell: It's probably easier to release the demo for PC than for PS2. Just make it available for download as soon as it's ready. For PS2, the only way is to release it with some Play Station Mag (I assume, I'm a PC player :D), so it's once a month and so, they'd better well time it.

Yeah I belive there will be a demo, but not after or on the games date at all.
Just because Legend was released like that, does'nt tmean AE will be :mis: There is no point at all to release a game demo on it's own release date, no gaming comapny can be so stupid :p

Demo should be ralised before the game, they said at the end of the april, so they must realise it at the end of the april.

We might not even get one. Jaywalker said that it takes away time from the main game just to edit everything in the Demo. I would rather everything be completed in the game than have 1 Level waste time from the full game.

Good then. I don't need the demo. The final product is what matters.

Well actually a demo is a tool so people can try a game before they buy it.. , so they wont release a demo for us.. because we most likely will buy the game... so when they release the demo its most likely for the people who are interested in this game but not sure if they should buy it. most likely the people who dont come here and don't know the release date.

So if they play the demo this month and then go to a shop they can't buy the game because it isnt released yet... and by next month they want an different game thats in that months issue.

So commercially its more effective to release a demo when the game is released so people can buy it immediatly. or at least they have to wait a few days before they can buy it...

Even though i think that sucks because i want to play the demo, right now!!!
but it is reality.....

I hope it comes out soon.
I've been playing Legend again ever since I've heard Anniversary was going to be out in May.
Especially the Peru scene in Tomb Raider really takes me back to the old days :D
