View Full Version : FMV-yes or no??
@ TLR:
are there FMV sequences like in the FIRST trailer or only cutscenes in íngame quality?
The intro's an FMV, the rest seem to be cutscenes.

Are you sure Mona? I was almost certain it was a ingame cutscene. And to the question about FMVs or cuscenes, i think cutscenes! :)

Ok, :) well i don't mind that being a FMV. It probably starts before the main menu anyway. :)

But i guess you know more then me about this Mona.:p

Yes, exactly. Just like in TR1.

I don't know about that, I've only seen the intro. Could be there are more FMVs. There are definitely normal cutscenes, though, so it's not all FMV.

Cool, thanks. :)

Which one is the intro?

For that intro it would have to be an FMV, it would look dodgy as an in game cutscene.
the explosion clip
That's an in-game cutscene, not an FMV.
no the first fmv is different

What is the first FMV about?
[and please, don't ask "how do you know?" 'cause it's quite obvius now :) ]
Which clip is this 'first FMV'?
Is it the Nuclear Bomb Explosion or is it the Scene were Natla is introduced in Calcutta?

Neither, those are both cutscenes. We're waiting for someone who has the game to tell us what it is...

I guess by its typical PS2 graphics :)

Yup.
I guess by its typical PS2 graphics :)
Until its offically confirmed, I wouldn't make such statements. ps2 graphics usually don't have heat shimmer distortion. For all we know they've created FMV's based on in game content.

But TRA has in-game generated blur! We saw it in the adrenaline dodge!
EDIT: Forgot it! TRA does have it! We saw in it in the fire room of palace Midas! ;)
i think that natla's awakening is an FMV! look at the explosions and compare it with the explosion seen in the peru cutscene of legend, when lara enters the car of anaya

We shall see. I wonder If TLR Online know about this, having played it and all.

I suspect so too.

Eidos France. During a presentation, they said there might be an FMV for the ending, but they're very expensive to make. That's what I remember...

Sorry, I haven't been around here very often for the past while so I wasn't even aware that there were ANY FMVs at all. They definetly said the intro would be an FMV right?

I'm sorry to tell you that it is an fmv. A very poor one.

FMV= Full Motion Video.
You guys are wrong, that IS NOT a FMV, I love those things and know one when I see one. Things look plasticy (example. FF) That is a cutscene, a very good animated and graphics I might say! Kutos CD :D
Actually, it is a pre-rendered FMV.

It really doesn't look like an FMV Mona:confused:
And didn't Jaywalker confirm no FMV's except maybe the last one?
It has its own Bink video file, so it's definitely an FMV. Cutscenes are rendered on the spot, in the game itself. For example, if Lara wears a certain outfit, you'll see that in the cutscene. That's obviously not possible in FMVs.

Oh I see:)
It's not a brilliant quality FMV so:(

FMV's are for games that can't produce good graphics (in my opinion) and Anniversary is capable of offering stunning cut scenes.
Because, the Natla introduction cutscene is right after. ;)
Do you know in the original, both these scenes were all part of the one FMV!
From that you may conclude that the Natla Introduction "Cutscene" is actually a pre-rendered FMV, using ingame art content!
AOD did something very similar for its FMVs.
