Here is my first thread using Anniversary lara, I can see a lot of potential with this new game and we have only had the LOST VALLEY demo so far ;)

At present I am only having a go at modding the costume, but background textures are next :D

I'm using core classic in Texmod and its not coming out like in the picture. She still has a detailed face and doesnt have those eyebrows/eyes. Am I doing something wrong?

Wow Mrshina, this is a really cool looking Lara that you made here. She is soo much like the original Lara but of course she has a more realistic figure. I love it. If I played TRA on PC, I would no doubt download this and play her:)

No you have to wait until all of us modders have the full game, unfortunately. But since the textures of all the outfits in this thread are already done, they should be available very fast for the full version.
Or try TombRipper if the outfit texture you want is available as a dds.

Has anyone figured out why the classic core outfit doesnt have the flat shading on the face/custom eyebrows for me? I dunno what I've done wrong =\.

I would have though that it shouldn't be a big issue. Once you've seen it, it should be in your cache, and the browser should pull it out of there rather than requesting it again off the server, if if it's on another page. :confused:

It's a problem when temporary files are deleted. Granted for those with high speed connections, requesting it again off the server is no problem at all. Since I do video editing and skinning, I have to do system maintenance (clearing cache, deleting temporary files, defragging, etc) on a regular basis.

Moderators, do you have any comments on this?

Are you modding with Tombripper or texmod (I recommend TEXMOD). If you have already attempted to mod with tombripper, reload the game (this puts the original unaltered file back on your computer). TEXMOD mods will not work if you have altered files with tombripper in your game folder.

For those who care i'm making an upgrade for my lumber-jack mod (http://www.freewebs.com/gaaa/lumber%2Djack.tpf):tea: .
The upgrade will give her top a better style of tartan, will remove her cloves, backpack, gear and grappling hook (although you will still be able to use it).
Most importantly her stomach won't change colour after being in the water.

For those who wish to download it, it will be available by second of June

Let's concentrate on TR Legend (I don't have TR Anniversary yet).
Are the crashes occuring when you are in logging mode, or are they when you are packaging the mod into a tpf, or are they when you are trying to run a mod? Does it happen on mods built by others, or only on your own? BTW, have you turned off NEX GEN graphics in Legend?

before using the +and - sines you must press the * key (which is the same as the 8 key). or nothing will happen

Even if they don´t work it is just a few clicks to make them all ready for it because the textures will stay the same and are already done. But would be good to know from someone who already has the full version if they work.

Hey all!

Gotto say I'm very impressed with the modding here, some fabulous designs, thanks to all for the inspiration, I really want to try my hand at skinning Lara . . . .

Can I ask, are you all using the demo to modd or the leaked version of Anniversary?

I've read the tutorial on Tombripper, downloaded it but when I try to open the program up pops a window named Project 1 with the text - 'D3D Int Error', then an error window says 'You do not have an appropriate licence to use this functionality' I'm using Vista Ultimate if that perhaps why I'm getting this error?

Being an artist I would love to give this a go, got some cool designs already sketched out, any help here would be most appreciated :)

Ok got Tombripper working on my other XP comp, but my specs are complete rubbish on it, has anyone got Tombriper working on Vista?

I'll be getting the CE on Fri . . . .

I guess my request comes under modding.

Could someone possibly make an edit of the TRL Music Extractor or make a new program to extract Music from the TRA Big Files, Ive tried myself with the TRL Music Extractor and instead just used the TRA File Directory but nothing has happened.

I didn't really love Lara's Anniversary look, so I gave her a new look by making her a new face texture. She looks much better now, and more like Lara. She really did need some proper eyebrows :D

So are costumes the only thing you perverts are modding? :tea:

Is the mod community going to be working on any level content, or anything affecting gameplay like that?

I'd like to see a mod that lessened the time of the red cross hairs in slow mo. It's too easy to get one hit kills as it is. Needs to be more challenging. As it is, as soon as you figure out the pattern, there's no more danger or risk of dying. They give you too long a window to make the headshot. Just my opinion of course.

There are much better things the mod community could be working on, but we appreciate all of your efforts. :)

Until such time as someone designs a Level Editor or other software to do waht you are asking, we're pretty much limited in the changes we can make (changing textures).

4.- “To save as” we chose the format .dds and we unmarked to the square “Channels alpha”

Transparency:

If you want to remove parts of the outfits (e.g. shorten the black dress) you can make parts transparent by painting the Alpha Channel black.

1) In Photoshop go to the box with Layers/Channels/Path and switch to Channels.
2) Turn on the Alpha-1 Channel (click on the eye) and select it (single click on the name).
3) Then click on the eye next to "RGB Channel" (topmost channel). In other words, the "Alpha 1" and RGB channels should remain visible (eye symbol) and the alpha channel should be selected (blue bar).
4) Now use drawing tools (pen, eraser, rectangle tool) in the main window. The color fields will have switched to black/white and when you paint with black the areas will appear reddish in the picture while if you paint white or use the eraser the red will disappear.

Those reddish areas will be invisible when the dress is used (but only on DDS file which are saved with Aplha channel).

Important: Keep copies of your files (e.g. in Photoshop format or the original backup), because when realoading DDS files into PhotoShop, the transparent areas will be black and the original content lost.

And no, you won't be able to make nude pictures that way. If you try, you will find that she doesn't wear anything underneath ... and that means not even a body. :-)

First off, jvjv, I totally <3 you for doing such a lovely job fixing Lara's face...only now I'm spoiled and want a version for Legend as well (maybe with a touch of black eyeliner, as I think the original did as well). :P

Oh, and while we're at it...would one of you sezzy modding machines be able to attach jvjv's face to the other Anniversary costumes? (specifically Camouflage, Sport, and Catsuit, as the others are either weird or already covered because they show up naturally in-game)

After you extract the texctures with TEXMOD, you need to use a graphics editor program to make the textures transparent. I use Microsoft Digital Image Pro 9, but very few people have that program.
If you tell the members what graphics editor program you are using, I'm sure somebody can offer help. If you don't have a graphics editor program, GIMP is free, and is supposed to be very good. Do a google search for it.

My virus scan (F-Secure) did the same when I tried to work with TexMod in Legend last year.

But I downloaded it again (from same source) almost 2 months ago and this time there was no warning. Seems it is an error in the blacklist of the virus scan and it is accidentially declined as a trojan. Maybe there is some similar code in it but it is definitely no trojan.

Hey gang. I finally finished my first skin! I've never done this sort of thing before, and it was an awesome learning experience. I hope I can do some more skins in the future as well. I could have nitpicked at the skin until my eyes bled, but seeing how it's my first skin, I didn't want to kill myself over it. There's so many things I wanted to change, but I didn't want to get into all that quite yet. So I'm going to release it as-is. :D

The skin uses the default Anniversary model, so there shouldn't be any problems. If there is, then let me know and I'll fix it ASAP.

But I think the problem is with McAfee being overprotective, not that TexMod is actually a trojan. Other anti-virus programs seem to have no problem with TexMod.

Hazzaman, look at my post at the top of page 88. :) I edited my post soon after you posted your reply. Took me a whole minute to read and figure it out. If you're familiar with PhotoShop, then it should be cake for you.

It's also in the skinning tutorial in the TR: Legends section of the forum.

I've tried some transparencies, but you have to remember the collision on some items are already programmed in (like Lara's backpack and ponytail). If you get rid of the backapck, the ponytail still acts like it's resting on the backpack, and it looks really odd. :p

That's why I left the backpack in on my skin and just colored it instead.

When you make a game model, it pretty much depends on what you have to work with. And unfortunately, there's only half of a "skin" to work with. Meaning, if you put a logo on one side of the body, it mirror-images it and flips it horizontally when you wrap it around the polygon model.

I found this out as I was working with my first model. Not to mention that a lot of textures get recycled throughout Lara, making it impossible to uniquely colorize. :(

Here's a question to other modders out there. Can we use a progam like Blender to smooth out the meshes? It would totally make my life a million times easier. I'm having trouble with the way the meshes "stick out" and warp my textures. Also, the lighting totally kills the mapping as well.

Here's what I mean.

Unfortunately we don't have a way yey to chnge the meshes. About your best bet is to find an outfit in Anninversary that does not have the break lines and use it as the starting point. On another website, I saw a skin of the neoprin poutfit that did not have the break lines. In Legend some folks did nice stuff with the swimsuit and the catsuit.

The necklace doesn´t show up in the menue screen but it´s working in the game. I have no idea why it´s not showing in the menue.

@jaywalker332: Just do it like darshe said and use some of the textures of Legend if you have the game.
I didn´t put the dds files in the zip folder this time but you can use the one of my first outfit which is the basis for these outfits.

Only problem is that we can't. :hea:

When you make a game model, it pretty much depends on what you have to work with. And unfortunately, there's only half of a "skin" to work with. Meaning, if you put a logo on one side of the body, it mirror-images it and flips it horizontally when you wrap it around the polygon model.

I found this out as I was working with my first model. Not to mention that a lot of textures get recycled throughout Lara, making it impossible to uniquely colorize. :(

Here's a question to other modders out there. Can we use a progam like Blender to smooth out the meshes? It would totally make my life a million times easier. I'm having trouble with the way the meshes "stick out" and warp my textures. Also, the lighting totally kills the mapping as well.

You can totally see where it starts to "break" where the hip line is (where the shorts start).

I was going to release my Psylocke skin, but I've spent waaay too much time trying to fix it, lol. :D

I already tried that, and I got mixed results. I can understand how the textures would be much smoother, but with the catsuit, the shaders on it cause the colors and shinyness to screw everything up. Is there a way to take out the shaders on the catsuit all together?

There is a way in Legend, so I assume there is in TRA as well. There is a single texture in Legend which creates the shiny effect in the catsuit. If you colour it black, the effect goes away. If you are using TexMod, make Lara wear the catsuit, go into logging mode and then look for this texture.

The upper part of the braid is messed up. Well I could fix it:

So now it's straight ^^ It's because the braid texture is 3 pixels aside. I moved it 3 pixels to the left side and now it's fine.

Ok people I know I've been excessively posting in this thread but I need help. I replaced the face textures (153 and 154), went into the game and replayed Lost Valley, but the changes won't show up in game. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Is there a different modus operandi that I could attempt?

Try using texmod instead of tombripper. Not all in-game outfits use the same face texture. With TEXMOD there is no doubt that you match the correct face with the associated outfit.

Well actually the original outfit was for the full game but people asked for a demo version so if you look a few (a lot really) pages back you will find the full game version of this outfit :wve:

Is anyone other than me annoyed by Lara's new face in TRA? They seem to have altered the colours and nose size since Legend. I could be identifying the wrong features but there is something peculiar about the TRA face. It is disturbing on a psychological level.

I also experienced a corrupt version when I tried to extract this file with WinRAR and and older version of WinZip. WinZip 11 (the latest one) has no issues extracting the files though.

This reminds me of those. Although I've never seen theirs in-game due to problems using tombripper on vista x64 and d3d init errors.

This made her look years younger even with my basic skills.

The textures really do make a ***** look unnaturally huge from certain angles.
