Keyword advertising system ruffles feathers

Once people got over the fact that Google's new G-Mail (https://gmail.google.com/?dest=http%3A%2F%2Fgmail.google.com%2F) offering wasn't an April first prank, people quickly turned to voicing their privacy concerns. Once CNET editor says the new service gives him "the creeps (http://news.com.com/2010-1032-5183646.html)". Wired News hints the service comes with a "steep price (http://www.wired.com/news/business/0,1367,62917,00.html)." EPIC calls it "privacy-invasive advertising." The problem critics have is that Google's contextual advertising system "reads" your messages and delivers adds according to keywords in your e-mail. Most of these critics however seem to be under the illusion that the internet, and their e-mail, was private to begin with.
