View Full Version : Is TR1 still on sale?
Enjoying Anniversary and thought I'd go back to see how it compares with TR1. Can I buy the PS1 version anywhere? Cheers, W
Glad you're enjoying TRA that makes 2 of us. Regarding TR1 i'd try second hand games shops or the best place to try i think would be e-bay.

Try eBay?
D'oh, never thought of that. Cheers both.
I should have kept my original copy :-)
The PSX version is available through sellers on Amazon.co.uk, and as far as I can see, there's a PC package with TR2 for £4.98 ;)

I'd try e-bay.
I got TR1-3 Chronicles and TLR for 70 USD after shipping :D
They stopped making copies of PS1 games?

I'm sure they've stopped making them. I wanted to play TR 1 on PSX once to see how it is with all the sounds n stuff since I never can get it to work on the PC. I rented it at the movie rental place. I didn't get too far (got past the T-rex in Lost Valley) but it was worth it :)
I had the hardest time tracking this game down but finally checked out a used game store in my mall which has everything from the PS1 to the NES. They had multiple copies of TR2 and TR3 but I managed to find TR1 among a stack and had to buy it
it's becoming rarer and rarer every week coz it has been 11 years now :ton:

They are still making the 'Sold out' version, around $9 US or under £5 (seeing you are in London, try a major outlet, like GAME shops).
I usually play it on my old Win95 computer to get the sound to work, but the above version can run on WinXP by changing the preferences, though you can have problems getting sound from some sound cards.

OK, I'll play fair and not google on it. I have a feeling it's in the Asiatic portion of the former Soviet Union - Khazakistan (sp?) perhaps? To my American ears, it has an exotic sound.
EDIT: Ah, Uzbekistan! But Khazakhstan is only 8 km. away, so I claim partial credit! A shame about the 1966 destruction of much of the city by earthquake, though I hear the rebuilt city is beautiful.
And I was having a little fun with alliteration: The Quest for the Tashkent Copy.

Enjoy first game for PC in the sucky Sold Out Edition with nada music etc. etc. :jmp:
I wish I had kept my PSX copy. :( I knew a Swedish store which sold the original triangle boxes for PC, but they decided to close.)

I got the first five TR's on www.soldout.co.uk for £9.98 and if you live in the U.K delivery is free... but it's only PC games they do and TR1 doesn't run very well (at all?) on many computers unless you download Glidos which can make the game look AMAZING if you download the texture packs... although the PC version has very little music so ALOT of the atmosphere is lost.
I bought the Sold Out Versions of 1+2, 3+4 and 5 (with Level Editor), brand new all for a £10 :)!!
Only trouble was the audio with TR1 - however I just burnt a new copy with the correct mixed-mode CD-Audio tracks on it - works perefctly with dgVoodoo on XP as well (thanks to TRC.com and the TR1 Advanced Installer).
I got them off www.play.com (comes with free delivery as well) - here is a link to the TR1+2 Dobule pack:
Play.com (UK) : Tomb Raider 1 & 2 Double Pack (http://www.play.com/Games/PC/4-/593717/Tomb-Raider-1-2-Double-Pack/Product.html)
The Sold Out versions of TR3+4 and TR5 are also in the "3 for £10" deal.
Sorry - I'm not trying to promote Play.com, just thought that was a good deal if you live in the UK.
i got TR1 + UB for pc off ebay for 1p!! :D although the postage was £2.50, so it kinda took the shine off it :p
Thanks for the links everyone. I've got a PS2 so looking for the PS1 version and here's what I've found so far...
play.com - got everything back to AOD
soldout.co.uk - only PC I think you said
amazon.co.uk - several second hand but platinum edition (why did I part x my mint original version dammit?)
Hang about, hang about - a mint original version for £5 on ebay! As that woman off Big Brother says... avin' it!

Nah, those (and the other titles I have) are my own little treasure :) Call me a collector. When I love something, I tend to gather everything I can about such a thing :P
Btw, I'll be playing the Saturn version (I never did, just tried this afternoon and it was nicer than expected) and doing a coverage - complete with pics :) Somebody interested?
Does anyone know if the game would work on XP on a 7600GT?? I might buy it again.

You have, coincidently, exactly the same setup as me :) - I have a 7600 GT with XP - have no problems running Tomb Raider.
I did have an ATI Radeon X300SE installed with Tomb Raider, and when I upgraded to a 7600 GT it took me a while to get Tomb Raider working again with dgVoodoo - but it turned out to just be the same issue as before.
With Bokkie's TR1 Advanced Installer it should be easy to setup - graphics look amazing with dgVoodoo/Glidos :D!!
Hah, it's good card. ;)
Thanks for that, I'll look on eBay to see if I can get a copy. Hopefully it will work okay.
