Well, the topic title does kind of explain my problem; I have a consistant choppy/crackling sound problem that just comes and goes every so often when I play TRA.

I've tried the disabling hardware audio in dxdiag, but that just seems to make it worse when it comes around, and then doesn't go away. I've tried to find updated drivers for my sound card, but seem non-existant (probably 'cos the card is about 4 years old now). I'm not sure if there's some magical fix that solves this problem? (I never had this problem with Legend, and the system specs don't seem to be too different)

I get this too, I usually just get to the next checkpoint then save and quit and when i go back onto the game its away.

This is common issue for integrated (low quality) sound chips


» Static noise from music and ambient sound in the game.
First check that the latest sound drivers are installed. If it is still a problem, then disable the hardware acceleration on the sound card.
Control Panel > Sound & Audio > Audio Tab > Advanced > Performance > Slide bar to None.

Run either Diagnose.exe (http://www.tombraiderhub.com/download/diagnose.exe) and post the report or download and run Everest (http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html) and look what exactly SoundMAX chip you have. Then we tell you where to get driver update.

Believe it or not, the driver I have is the most up to date one available for my computer model. Unless using one from a different model is what I should do?
