I Know i don't think they know it's Virtual not Real! but i see their point, naughty Sony :)

Anyway i'm Antil PS3 :p
So i don't really mind but it is a bit dramatic to take Legal Action. :)

LoL, sometimes I wonder what goes through people's heads. "Encourage people to have gun battles"? Uh huh... only when there's evil aliens killing everyone. And how come it took them this long to notice the game and having the cathedral in it? It's like those people who sue film makers for a film they made ten years ago about using a storyline they made up... bit suspicious when it takes them ten years to realise it's their story.

Meh, it's a stupid lawsuit. But on the plus side, the church is admitting that the PS3 has superb graphics with it's "photo-realistic quality" :).

The ignorance of some people is appalling. If they had their way we'd all be watching shows made for little kids and playing games no more advanced than Pong.

That is so true, my friend. And I would like to add to this topic:

The game does nothing wrong here, nothing what so ever.

The church does what it does best here - it is speaking about things they are not clued into very much. And, attacking the game is only going to help it, nothing else. These idiots are too stupid to see that!. If they learn to understand what is beyond their simplistic thinking, then and only then shall I take them seriously. They are blowing things WAY out of proportion.

I would treat the church like the Vikings would treat their enemies, as I am fed up with their asinine comments made and asinine actions taken against things they are ignorant to the facts of. The church should go away and recruit more wolves in sheeps clothing to pray on the innocent congregation, it's what the church is best at. And just leave games and music and movies alone!.

It's a frickin' VIDEO GAME!!!

A virtual reality confined withing a console! It's not real!!! STOP BASHING GAMES!!!

And why is it always Sony? I don't see anyone complaining over a 360 title like Saint's Row or a Wii game like Trauma Center. It's not only stupid, it's annoying.

Rant over.

Perhaps because a church is a place of worship and the reverend is very sensitive to this sort of thing?
Do you really think these sorts of people (reverends etc.) would pick on a particular games company? ;)

I do think this is a bit stupid, although he would've done the same if it was another gaming company though, Chris.

I take it that if a cathedral ever gets invaded by aliens, they don't want them turfed out then?

You know, I'm sure that there are quite a few TV shows or movies which feature gun battles in churches or cathedrals. Hm...

Okay, Church of england, sue Sony also for having Alison in Resident Evil: Apocolaypse for entering a church by charging into it's sacred windows with a motorbike. If they're arguing about it being real place depicted in such a way then that's even more less intelligent. The aliens encroached on our territory in the game and really in a battle, if it lead you into a place of worship, you would not stop and say...
"Woah, woah, okay guys we could be smighted for spilling blood here so let's take it outside...''
I think the Aliens would respond with a high pitched scream and rip our soldiers apart.

The only point of argument is that it is a place of worship but it is no way being defiled, any violence is purely fictional and any violence taken place in the game is self defence. I doubt the Creative Director of the game thought lets promote gun crime! No he thought lets show how kick ass we are when we get backed into a corner.

The church is just making a ruckuss and not making publicity on issues that are more important. Its wrong!

I don't know how much permission is necessary to feature a real place in a game. Considering Sony's past actions (spyware in their music CD's, for example) I am hesitant to believe them when they say they did everything legally. *If* they failed to get the legal permission they needed to feature this particular church in their game, then I can see where the reaction is coming from.

Halos are for angels ONLY!
You'll be hearing from God's attorney soon!"
