In Game Onscreen instruction problem

Hi all. I am new to the forum and could use a bit of help.

Have run into a problem I can't seem to fix. I am playing the PC version of the game using a Saitek P2500 Game controller. When I first installed the game and enabled the game pad when the instructions on how to do a specific move for example grappling would come up onscreen it would show which buttons to push on the controller. After playing a while and quitting then later going back to the game it changed. Game pad still works fine, but now the onscreen instructions are for the keyboard instead of the gamepad. Meaning now it says for example.. Press Shift instead of Press Button 3.

Any suggestions on how to get it to show the correct onscreen in game instructions for the game pad again instead of the keyboard?

I tried disabling then reenabling the game pad in the option menu but no luck.

Appreciate any suggestions.

Not entirely sure. AFAIK, the 360 controller is the only one officially supported by the game, so it may simply be a case of the game not being able to consistently recognize the controller. Does the controller still work normally?

Yes, the controller works normally and all the buttons function. It's just the onscreen instructions that don't show correctly.

What doesn't make sense is the first time I started up the game it DID show the correct onscreen instructions, i.e. press button whatever.

So it did originally reconginze the controller.
