Need a little help please

Just got the game. On "The Lost Valley" level. Can't seem to find the lever to turn the river current off.
Any help greatly appreciated as banging my controller off the floor and shouting at the telly does not seem to be working!

First you need to find three cogs.

Once found, head back to the start of the river at the top of the waterfall and make your way to a ledge you can jump to on the other side.
Then you have to make your way upstream by jumping to various ledges. Don’t fall in the water, or you’ll have to make your way back again. Some of the ledges can be tricky if you’re not good at jumping, but it can be done.
Eventually you’ll come across a bridge, (or a broken bridge, I can't remember) and at the other side is the mechanism for the cogs.
