View Full Version : Lara, Sex Symbol?

I saw a interview with CD, before the release of Legend i think. And they sayd that they did make her boobs smaller, and they gave her a more 'normal' figure. So now with the release of Anniversary, it seems that her tits got bigger. Why is that, when they've said thay're tired of Lara getting looked at as a sex symbol. Do do you personaly see Lara as some kind of a sex symbol?

no.

She is, and will always be, a sex symbol. I know Toby doesn't like it, but that's just how a lot of people see her... Not me though. I'm in it for the adventure. :D

While she is packing a good size, they are smaller than her last games . . . .

Of coarse she is, but I dont think its just about her body though

She`s not going to continue being a sex symbol with that personality :/

Unfortunatly, Lara has acquired a "sex vib". Toby Gard says so himself, but I don't think that bigger breasts are going to make her a sex symbol. Besise the camera being mostly behind Lara ;)

I know, her old personality was also making her more of a sex symbol i think. But look at her tits in Anniversary, if they don't wont her to be a sex symbol, why make them that big!?

Like one member said a while ago, Lara was inevitably going to be a sex symbol from the word go. She's a sexy character, Strong willed, independent and totally kick-ass, I just think she became a little too recognised in the media and the actual game itself sort of got left behind, there was more to it than just her sex-status, it was her mass market appeal that really drove Toby mad.

So she doesn't bump into wall. Just kiding :tea:

The creators sayd that her looked more 'proportional' this way. I think her spine needs treatment with this...'package'. But her personality, as you said, changed her way of doing things and so also the way of connecting things to sex. And ,eventually, that message is going to pass to the gamers.

Toby Gard. He originally designed Lara's appearance, worked on Legend, and was the director/writer for TRA.

Cd want her to be a sex symbol. Hence why they even included the animation in which her breasts wobble on the title screen when she does a certain stretch. I mean come on, the sexual inuendos (sp) like on Legend, "i can be very persuasive" and the blatent sex positon her and Larson get into at that place with the cogs and stuff. And the movie contributes to it all.

I find it funny that she's always been marketed as a sex symbol (whatever that really means). It's only since Legend that she's even looked vaguely human.

Yes, I want that she is one sex-symbol.
Lara Croft is an adventurous, gymnast, in total physical training conditions, handsome, attractive, intelligent, audacious, brave woman.
She is a good perfume in a pretty bottle.

But no for nothing! A professional gymnast, a swimmer of the Olympic Games… has an attractive body…...

Why has to be she of another form?
She is not an employee in a sausage store .....

16-06-07, 16:56
Yes, of course she is. Right from the start she was.

They should make her have back aches that'd add a % risk of failing a jump-n-grab-a-ledge attempt due to the boobies.
So everyone'd go "...DAMN BOOBIES!" if she fell off the ledge... <.<

Shark_Blade
16-06-07, 17:04
Not with that personality, she ain't no more, sadly :/
The classic Lara is more flirtatious and sexy. She's got a sexy tanned body too.

Lara is a sex symbol, obviously.

However, she does break the stereotypes of women in media: although she is a sex symbol she is still recognized as a unique female character who stands alone, highlighting that women can also do stuff and do not have to rely on men.

Although she oozes sex, she would never participate in such and for this reason men seem to be attracted to her.

yea i don't think it was because of her "looks" back then that she was already a sex symbol. It was more her attitude and the fact that she was a woman in a "man's world", and totally kicked ass.... PLUS a lot of stuff was left to everyone's imagination since you could hardly recognize her on screen, lol... if u know what i mean

I don't see her as sex symbol, I see her as more of an icon. Sex figure however, no. And I wasn't very happy when I saw the pictures Core made.

to me Lara always will be a sex symbol

Shark_Blade
16-06-07, 20:09
Oh yeah, I do love her boobs jiggle in TRA :mis: I think CD did that on purpose, just to mesmerize the players....listening to the Anniversary menu music, having Lara shaking her boobs ever so gently in a specified period, making us waiting and gawping at the menu, wanting some more...lol.

OK, she's back being a sex symbol again. And don't you dare reduce the sizes again in the future CD.Peace.

Yes, she is a sex symbol.

But not in a negative way, I think she shows that woman can be confident and strong, all while maintaining elegance, beauty, and sex appeal. :)

But she's no pamela anderson sex symbol haha.

Yes, completely.

I always used to fancy her on the front of magazines and stuff, now I knew she was a game and stuff and that nothing would ever happen, but at the time (i.e. 8+) the world of women was opening up to me because of her.

Surprisingly, nudity has never really come into it, it was always the dresses and the outfits, the flirtatious lines and the attitude that was hot.

She has inspired many from many walks of life, both women and men alike and for that why shouldn't she have the sex appeal? If she's doing good with it...

EDIT: ^^that's disturbing, a fat Lara :vlol:

Concerning the initial question, I think Lara became a sex symbol because she was the perfect illustration of women power and she became very popular for that!

I find myself unable to look at anyone with a BMI of 16 as "totally hott". Then again, my BMI is 15,2, so I guess I'm not the one to talk about that... Right!

Seriously though, with her occupation, those boobs are indeed painfully large.

Edit: :vlol: Fat Lara xD

yes shes a sex symbol, but that happens to anyone, even if they dont want it. shes kick-ass, independant, and beautifully animated, so ppl consider her a sex symbol.
toby gard is a liar he said he didnt want her as a sex symbol, yet in his own directed game.........skin tight clothes, cleavage to the max, boob jiggling even on the menu, underwear shown in a ripped dress, and a bikini to top it off. such a liar, he cant even be honest about it.

Personally, I don't see why it matters.. I have a whole wall of TR pictures in my room. They range from classy to sexy to adventure. Thats just who she is. So all of a sudden a woman cannot be sexy ?? Doesn't make sense. Lara will always be an icon. Whether sexy or not. Men want to be with her and women want to be her..

Regarding the "proportions", it's a tradition. Even if they make her realistic, she'll have same "sizes"...

She's a sexy character, Strong willed, independent and totally kick-ass,...

I totally agree with Pablo!

She is awesome. Why not be a sex symbol. A woman like that? Independent, strong, smart and attractive.

I love this game and glad she is representing it.

well a sex symbol of the video game world of course.
