Hi darkixi

Are you an XP player? If yes, you may need to do a few things before you play TR1, since it's a DOS-based game and usually has problems running properly in new operating systems.

There are some tools that help this game function successfully on XP:

-The Tomb Raider Installer, made by Bokkie ( > Link to download < )

-VDMSound ( > Link to download < )

-Glidos ( > Link to download < ) - not free; or dgVoodoo (free, and included in the TR Installer).

You have to be very careful in how you install and set up these programs. So until one of the techies comes along to guide you through, have a look in this page: > LINK < and in particular in the section 'Installing the Game', as it contains comprehensive instructions on how to make the installation process using all the above tools.

darkixi, I'll take this topic to the Technical Support section. The techies will definitely see it there and help you through

Moving to Tech Support.

darkixi, best is to delete the TOMBRAID folder.
If you know what graphic card you have (nVidia or ATI), follow the next steps.
1. Re-install VDMSound 2.1.0 Check that you use only that version).
2. Reboot the pc.
3. Install TR1 using the Advanced Installer. Do NOT choose to play with Glidos and also NOT with DgVoodoo. Choose YES let the Advanced Installer configure VDMSound.
4. Play the game.

If there is no problem playing TR1 this way, you can again delete TOMBRAID, and re-install TR1, this time make your choice for Glidos or DgVoodoo.

If you choose DgVoodoo, don't forget to make the apropriate selection if you have an ATI card ("disable VDD Mode" shortcut).

Tell me what happens.
