Last I heard Square Enix weren't making the game. Crystal are still the developers. What Square have done in buying into the company is provide Eidos (and so CD) with much needed cash. Edos will not need to rush CD into getting a game out fast to help bring in profits. So far with the lull in information for TR9 it appears that Eidos can and are allowing CD more time and probably resources too. This will hopefully see CD be able to produce a much more polished game.

If TR is in for a reboot, I guess only time will tell if and how successful it is. What some of the fans need to do is try and be as open minded as possible to a new approach and stop the endless groan of 'it isn't like what core would do!'. I don't know what game we'll receive in the future, but I hope that Tomb Raider lives on for a long while yet.

When it ends it will be because sales have dropped to such a point that Eidos can't see a way of salvaging the franchise. If CD run out of enthusiasm and/or ideas, will Eidos find new developers yet again? Who knows. But I for one can imagine that there is enough of the world for Lara to explore for unknown artefacts to keep going for some years to come.

I'm not saying CD should do exactly what Core would have done, except in the sense that Core made proper TR games. If CD can make a good Tomb Raider game (as opposed to a generic zombie shooting game which is what TR10 might end up as), then good for them. Dismissing all the arguments against the CD approach by saying "but you're just a Core fan" is shooting the messenger.

Looking back with what we know now, of Core, of the series and especially of Eidos AOD was not the abomination it was made out to be and many people seem to be seeing this now.
The sales did drop after the first game but the first big drop was when tomb raider chronicles was released, it was about 3 million copies difference from TR:TLR, but people blame it on AoD probably because it was the worse game in terms of quality that Core released and it is easy to say they didn't successfully move the game up to the next generation of consoles. But I agree that opinions toward AoD are changig as we learn more about how Eidos were in financal troubles, and therefore needed to game to be release as soon as possible to continue making a profit, but we don't know(as far as i know) which is the cause and which is the effect, the falling sales of TR may have caused the troubles or was it Eidos' lack or funds that caused the "bad" games?
