Crystal Dynamics Tomb Raider Game Guide (TRF Edition)

Tomb Raider Legend - A modern and fresh add to a declining series, met with relatively good sales, decent merchandising and fantastic gameplay and graphics across the board on all Systems and Specs. A different and gripping story met with at-the-time fantastic, jaw dropping scenery.

Tomb Raider Anniversary - A modern game with a twist of nostalgia, as the series pays tribute to what started it all with a 're-imagining' of the very first game. Met with fantastic gameplay, inc new moves and outstanding detail and graphics. Looks great yet similar across all systems, missing 'Next Gen' mode on PC.

Tomb Raider Underworld - A modern game with a breakthrough onto all modern systems finally, met with the end to the Legend story seen 2 years prior. Like Legend, this game is met with fantastic scenery and graphics, even met with awards for Lara and her 'Highest Polygon Count' in history of gaming! (2008)… the game was frowned upon in areas for it's bugs and glitches, and also Xbox exclusive content.

Hmmm. IMO!.
Tomb Raider Legend - A fun rehash of generic action-adventure gameplay features seen in other games that didn't have much to do with the original Tomb Raider formula. Including a story that wasn't bad but certainly didn't fit into a Tomb Raider game.

Tomb Raider Anniversary - Boring grey corridors followed boring grey corridors and were joined by a lot of white ledges and even more boring grey corridors in this excuse of a remake which even managed to mess up the awfully simple plot of Tomb Raider 1 with its cheesy "I'm following in daddy's footsteps"-nonsense.

Tomb Raider Underworld - One of the most ridiculous and terrible stories in recent gaming history combined with mostly boring gameplay and oh look, even more white ledges. It was nice to look at and not much else.

EDIT: Oh right, dual pistols...I like those .

Podcast #6:
Quote:
Will Lara ever wield dual pistols?

KS: “Everyone wants me to spoil it for them! You’ll have to wait and see. What I will say in relation to dual pistols, braids, and locking people in freezers, the idea is that as you play the game you’ll come across situations that become iconic and define the future of our heroine. If we decide that she will have dual pistols, then you will remember that moment for the rest of your days. You were there this time.” [Transcribed from Crystal Habit Podcast #6 (January 2012)]
Usually, doesn't that mean a yes? Either way, pistols shouldn't define Tomb Raider. That's like saying the taking away the T rating doesn't make the game "Tomb Raider" despite having the same title and iconic character.

Just my 2 cents.

DEBATE OVER....

I get the feeling that if there werent dual pistols at some point in the game, Karl would have just answered... "NO"

Your hope should be that Lara turns out to be someone that isn't a shallow character that's only defined by material possessions that don't even have any effect on gameplay.

Regarding the dual pistols, If they weren't in the game, they'd just flat out say no, Just like swimming. they're obviously in there somewhere.

What? Like 98 percent of the story was about the arthurian myths and a monomyth... How is that not fitting for a tomb raider?

I liked that part of the story (a shame they failed so miserably to continue it in Underworld). The problem with it was that it all revolved around Lara's mum.
