I'm hooked on open world rpg's at the moment.

Fallout 3 (maybe New Vegas as well, but I haven't played it).
Guild Wars (amazing no-subscription fee MMORPG, GW2 coming out in late August so that might be another choice) Sacred 2: Fallen Angel Divinity II Ego Draconis There are several others I can recommend but they are just not coming to mind atm. >_< |

Dead Island
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning The Witcher The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Fallout 3 Fallout New Vegas Dragon Age Origins (Some of these aren't entirely open world games, but they're still amazing) |

I just bought Dragon Age Origins and i'm downloading it now.
I might get Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. Keep them coming though. |

Arx Fatalis, Just Cause 2 (not an RPG, but possibly the best full-on open world game I've ever played), Two Worlds II...
It's not entirely open world, but it's not linear either. It's far less linear than Mass Effect, that much is certain. |

EDIT: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning looks great! I'm definitely getting it, it looks like a mixture of Fable and Skyrim and I love both (of course, mainly Skyrim). Last edited by annl; 28-07-12 at 13:52. |

Personally I don't see either DA or KoA as "open world"... you get a limited amount of freedom to explore sure, but they're not "open" in the way Skyrim or Fallout are.
Just my opinion. |
