Tomb Raider 2012/Uncharted factory (Spoiler)
I'm playing UC 3 at the moment. It's a great game, but there is one level that is basically the same level we saw in the Tomb Raider gameplay vids!!
Wow, I mean I love both games and I'm not here to rant over which is better etc, but are their teams working together or something? It starts with a bunch of ship wrecks in an unknown place. Nate doesn't know where he is and has to make his way around various wrecks. Anyone else playing/noticed the "twin" level concepts? So strange. Obviously Lara's story is different etc and it doens't matter all that much, but it can't be a coincidence that these levels look basically the same |

No idea, but for you to know, Kublai Khan Lost Fleet is the main thing on Uncharted 2, so isn't big deal if approach is different.

Yeah, I kind of thought it was funny when playing UDD. I'm pretty sure it's a coincidence, though.

There are too many of these coincidences for it to be just a coincidence.

Coincidence, just like the burning home with underground chambers and the sinking ship.

I don't mind those kind of coincidences as long as they don't make the gameplay like UC's. I want a slower approach from TR, something much less frantic and exploratory. And I never want Lara to control like Drake does.
Other than that... there are going to be times when they do similar things. The basis of the games (treasure seekers in ancient, mysterious places) is exactly the same. As a side issue - I always feel when I play UC that they have taken a lot from the old Core games. The saturated colour palettes for starters, but also some of the locations and the scale and beauty of the architecture. It may be that it's merely a coincidence... but I can't tell you the times I've played UC with a sense of deja vous over old TR games. |
