Thor Ragnarok
Thralls? CHECK.
Eitr looking glowing stuff? CHECK. Atlantean/Norse doors with glowing ruins? CHECK Immortal woman long trapped returns and suddenly Ragnarok? CHECK. Welcome to Tomb Raider Underworld The Movie. In all seriousness, visually speaking, the parallels are very interesting. |

Because they're both based on Norse mythology?
Anyhoo, Marvel movies usually bore me to tears but the director (Taika Waititi) is a freaking genius so I might be giving this movie a look-see |

This thread confuses me, because one of the things I found so interesting about Thor Ragnarok is how different it is visually from what you expect a space vikings movie to be, while Underworld is fairly conventional. Sure, you get the standard iconography and helmets with curved horns, but the movie is a very colourful one, making heavy use of bright and flashy effects to underline its important points. It also leans much heavier on the sci-fi aspect of things. There's far less sword fights and far more big guns than ever before.
Underworld, on the other hand, is drab and stays drab. |

Just saw it!
And I'd definitely recommend There were a few visual similarities to Underworld (especially the thrall, although they had glowing green eyes in Thor) but overall it was very colourful and visually striking Acted, directed and written superbly, every character stood out and the pacing was fresh Kind of heavy on the slapstick though An interesting link I just discovered is that Andy Park is an artistic visual director supervisor something in many Marvel movies. He was responsible for the absolutely gorgeous Lara of the first dozen or so Top Cow comic issues (Click to enlarge for devastating beauty ) But back on topic.. great movie |
