Default Conflicting?

Hi, I have a couple of questions about ZoneAlarm and Avast! running together...

1.Does Avast! and ZoneAlarm conflict each other? Since I installed just recently, my icons and browsers may sometimes lock up and I have to restart to get them to work again. Then it might struggle to come up with the internet. I use Firefox mostly and I am using 32-bit Vista.

2.Does Avast! have its own firewall? If it does, I might stop using ZoneAlarm, which may be causing conflicts.

If not, can anyone suggest a good free antivirus and firewall? I`ve tried AVG and COMODO, but they hogged my system and slowed it down. Plus COMODO constantly whined when I started anything new.

I don't think that Avast free edition has its own firewall.

AVG and Avira

Is comodo still installed? Run ardiag and post the report please: http://www.tombraiderhub.com/download/ardiag.exe

^ Yup...

Besides:
1. Ensure you have latest Vista compatible ZA - v7.1.xxx
2. Add ZA to Avast! exclusions list.
3. Disable any firewall capabilities of your antivirus (any one you have), use ZA as firewall - it's better.

Hi!

Well, I uninstalled Avast! after I tried to add ZoneAlarm to exclusions, but it BSOD my laptop and dumped physical memory. Anyway, I am now using Avira and I am waiting for it to update itself.

Also, My computer does say that COMODO is still running, even though I have no remnants whatsoever left of it. No folders or anything. Is there a way to turn it off or disable it?

Also, im getting rid of Avira and going back to AVG. It caused my pc to BSOD too. Anyway, I think Avast! was causing most of the issues, because Avira doesnt have a problem with ZoneAlarm, and I havent had random freeze ups of my internet since taking it off. But if you can still figure out how to stop COMODO from running, that would be nice.

What makes you say so, I see no traces of Comodo Firewall in your report.

Ah, sorry! I ran autoruns and killed all entries that were not found, and I guessed it killed Comodo!

Yeah, now I have no issues, but I am also battling spyware issues with my mom`s computer. Kids, dont ever download something that says its "free".
