I think the problem with the animation was that, after mo-capping, they clearly sped things up (maybe cut some frames too?), with the result that Lara moves like a demented chipmunk.

Well, the Mocap wasn't a good source material either. Just look at her weird Jump animation when jumping Straight up.

Animations were fine, they just didn't make proper transitions between some of them.

I have to say, I've been watching the cutscenes of the game for fun today and Eric Lindstrom really did a great job with them. Probably the last time we've seen a semblant of our Lara.
The storyline could have been adjusted for something less parent oriented, but all in all, it is much better than whatever we got with Rise and TR (2013). |

There's nothing that beats the tackiness of TR (2013) and Rise.
Underworld may be cliché, but there's already much more cinematography in the cutscenes than Rise or TR (2013) combined. The story is a bit far fetched but still much more interesting than Rise or Reboot. Reboot had a great core concept, but then.... Anyways, this thread is about the TRU engine being a downgrade. |

In my (very humble!) opinion Underworld and the reboots are both prime examples of Crystal D's incompetence in making appealing TR stories. But Underworld a little bit more so.
