Default This I hope I will not see in SOTTR

Here is my list:

1) An undead army
2) Ascension to the final boss while everything around collapses
3) Capture/Avalanche scenario when Lara loses all her gear at the beginning of the game
4) and starts with a broken TWIG made into bow, ends up with an obliterator
5) Damsel in distress that needs saving
6) Blonde villain
7) "My father was right about everything".
8) bow, one pistol, assault rifle, shotgun - these four basic weapons - all other weapons are variations of existing weapons


Feel free to add your own thoughts.

2589 collectables that serve hardly any purpose, nor enrich the story.

Somewhat more condensed gameplay when doing the main campaign. Slightly smaller hub worlds (This is something that I personally don't like when it's too big )

"I've got to…", "I've got to…", "I've got to…" Can't we just have one or two "I want to…" or "I'm curious about…" or similar?

Actually , this is a "classic" part of the franchise , think about it : most Tomb Raider games (except maybe Legend , AOD and Chronicles) had a last segment that's so similar to TR2013 and ROTTR .

Anyway , here's what I can think of right now :

- Undead Soldiers .
- White "visual language" (ledges , craggy walls , ropes etc) , make them recognizable , but not with white paint .
- Snow and ice .
- Strongboxes , GPS caches and NPC missions .

I screamed at: "My dad was right about everything."

On topic:

-Open world.
-White ledges.
-Boring side-missions.
-Zombies.
-Pointless collectibles.
-Serious and boring Lara from start to finish.
-2638 human enemies.
-Similar outfits. (Like in ROTTR).
-Jonah.

That would be like complaining that we had to escape a collapsing temple at the end of most classic games. We had it in TR1,TR2, TR3 to an extend, TR4...

... And Lara lost all of her weapons at one point in every classic games:

- Natla's Mine (TR1)
- Offshore Rig (TR2)
- High Security Compound (TR3)
- The Submarine (TR5)
- The Paris section + Von Croy's apartment (TRAOD)

I don't disagree with the list per se, repetitiveness can be harmful... But I feel people are mixing up "repetitiveness" with "franchise classics". You identify a franchise by its similar patterns shared between the games.

The classic TR had the "lost weapon" and "escaping a collapsing temple" sections, Assassin's Creed had its waypoint towers + leap of faiths, Zelda has its dungeon bosses... It's not uncommon to see similarities within a franchise.

I agree that Rise went a bit overboard on certain fronts but I feel some elements of your list might fall in the "franchise classics".

They're weird in the context of a Tomb Raider game, but in an AAA game with semi open world areas, they can be benefic.

We don't have a clue whether the game will take place entirely in Mexico or not I'm just warning them that if they're to feature other locations , they better not have the slightest trace of snow and ice in them , I've seen enough in Rise to last me a lifetime !

Well , they better feel more rewarding , diverse and engaging then . Honestly , they seemed like an afterthought and a last minute add-on in Rise to me .
