Thumbs up Game Development General Chat

This is a general discussion thread for all game devs on Tomb Raider Forums. The discussion revolves around the use of software beyond the TRLE. Post any works including 3D modeling, conceptual artwork, level designs, textures, materials, rigging, animating, scripts, tutorials, and so on.

Feel free to post anything you are working on, comment on each other's work and share tips to improve. I think it's becoming clearer and clearer that more designers will be using contemporary toolsets in the coming years on the forums.

Great idea for a thread. If anyone is looking to learn 3D modelling I suggest Blender, because it's free and easy to use. Blender Guru on YouTube has some great tutorials. I look forward to seeing people's work, and sharing knowledge.

I was recently inspired to remodel some higher-poly TR1 menu items:

Thought I should post them here to give my own thread some life.

I love those objects! My only critique is that British Passports don't have such a noticeable spine. I think it would be a cool throwback to the 90s if the handheld console was a Gameboy, and the music player was a Sony WalkMan.

The Walkman was introduced in TR2 and reused in TR3 €dit: My bad. I had the discman in mind, not the walkman
I like it as a cassette player, it's a less waste of space on her adventures
Was the old blue passport standardized? Afaik modern Passports have rounded edges.

I meant the Sony WalkMan cassette player sorry I think if someone was to remake Tomb Raider 1 it would be cool to do add lots of touches of the 90s to it for nostalgia. I googled 1996 British passport, and apparently, this was the one in circulation.

In fact upon further Googling I found this ...

In September 1988, the Glasgow Passport Office issued the first UK passports in burgundy format.

Awesome work, larafan25! Thoose objects looks great, I love them ♥

Are you planning to release them when they are finished? it would be so much fun to try and make fake screenshots renders and perhaps Main menu screens and such things

This is super helpful information, as the passport has the most fuzzy details, so it's hard to know exactly how it should be. But the basis is there. It's possible her passport is old, so some of the corners are round, while others have been ripped or squished a bit. I will revise the spine.

Yeah, I will release them. Once I finish them. Though I still need some more references for some of the details I think.
