Default Ultimate Tomb Raider I Patch and FMV deinterlacing patch released!

Hi all! I am programmer and member of the Tomb Raider Russian Community. We recently released localized into Russian and revised version of the Tomb Raider I Gold. We also released an English version with lots of fixes. Among the changes is significantly improved FMV codec and new re-encoded RPL videos. You can download our game patch here. It works with both Steam and GOG versions. A full list of changes is as follows:
  • Completely redesigned FMV/RPL codec. Now it has no interlace. Also it filters "dithered" pixels.
  • Added remastered and re-encoded FMV with better sound and video quality
  • Added higher quality music and SFX from PSX version + extra audio tracks
  • Fixed Unfinished Business (3dfx) issue with a black screen instead of credits slideshow at the end of the game
  • Fixed problem with the secret at the last level
  • Reworked PCX images
  • Added title images for widescreen mode
  • Added our credits screen.
  • Added our logo FMV.
  • Added nGlide v1.05 for high resolution and widescreen mode
  • Added loader for easy configuration and launch of the game
Authors of this patch
  • Anar K.M. (SWAT) - resources rework, installer software
  • Michael Chaban (Arsunt) - reverse engineering, advanced fmv codec, programming (RPL converter, game loader)
  • Suikaze Raider, b122251 - other tools and patches (really, thank you guys!)
Also, I want to share my deinterlacing patch with the world Tomb Raider community. It removes horizontal black lines from FMV and adds dithering filter for quality enhancement. Patch has already been applied to our game, but if you do not want to download and install the whole thing, or if you plan to create your own repack, so... take it! This patch can be applied to any executable of "Tomb Raider I" or "Tomb Raider I Gold" games even if it has already been patched or modified by any other software, such as 3dfx patch.

Here are a few examples of how the patch works (click to enlarge):

Deinterlacing patch does not include re-encoded FMV pack, but our full game patch does.
Here is demo of re-encoded FMV. As you can see, although the original video is much more contrast, but it has a distinct red color, as well as small but noticeable glitches in the form of pixel artifacts.

upd1. For GOG version users. If main game instantly crashes when you run it in "Preserve Original" aspect ratio, just rename or delete original dosboxTR.conf in the game folder. Loader will create new one, it will fix the issue.
upd2. Сarefully check the installation path of the patch. It must be the same as the game path!

Great work! I'll definitely give it a try.

Is it possible to make it work with the recently fixed ATI patch? It makes TR1 works natively on Windows.

Yes, it does.

Unfortunately no. "ATI patch" is not quite patch. Rather, it is brand new application that works with game resources. Right now we are working on "Tomb Raider 2" and "Tomb Raider 3" projects. You'll see some interesting improvements when we release them. And then, later in this year, we'll go back to "Tomb Raider I" to make it Windows-native, with "ATI patch" or not.

It'd be nice if someone could get the Power VR version working, or at least fix the way the glide version renders so that it doesn't wobble all over the place.

Thanks a lot! Big improvement from what I was using before. However I have one issue. My monitor is 1080p. If I run the main game in 1080p "Fit to screen", it runs perfectly. But if I run the main game in 1080p "Preserve Original", it instantly crashes.

However if I run Unfinished Buisness in 1080p Preserve Original, it runs perfectly...

I've tried all DosBox modes, and always the same result. I'm using the GOG version of the game.
