It's not just the alternate outfits... I'm hearing that in game scenes have also been altered.

Censorship really grates on me. I can't abide it--no matter what the particulars are.

Apparently the game hasn't been censored in the EU, and we have the Japanese version of the game, but obviously with the English audio and text.

Even when it's underage girls in outfits that reveal every inch of the body?

Edit: Nope the Bikini is also removed from the European version.

I was just going by I what I kept coming across. Then again I saw a mixture of things and also hatred towards the censorship. Where did you find about about the EU censorship?

Multiple reviewers on NeoGAF have confirmed it and there's a video about it on YouTube.

What was the censorship down to anyway? Was it just because of some of the outfits?

Google 'Project Zero 5 bikini' or 'Fatal Frame 5 bikini' and than consider that the girl with the scarf is supposed to be 17 years old. And let's not forget that the clothing gets sticky/transparant when it gets wet. A part of the game that actually the gameplay revolves around.

They censored it because of or be 17 and in something revealing. Doesn't anyone remember DoA and Kasumi or her sister?

I'll be honest and say I'm glad they're gone. They were just too much. Yeah, Mayu and Mio had bikinis, but they looked like actual swimsuits, not some sort of psuedo-bondage get up that made sure the moon was always out.

Well I think the game creates it's own problems by making a core gameplay mechanic around getting as wet as possible. That would make an argument for swimsuits being a viable option for the characters, I guess.

As for the age thing... why doesn't Nintendo/Tecmo just make the girl 18, instead of 17, and be done with it? It's just a number. The real answer that they won't admit to is that just that one year makes a huge difference to a Japanese market that idolizes, and sexualizes, youth... in the U.S. not so much (or so we like to pretend).
