Is it crazy to buy the same game on two platforms?
I'm having a hard time trying to think what platform to buy Crash Nsane Trilogy on. I'm thinking maybe I'll just buy it on both the Switch and PC. I like the PC one due to the better frame rate and performance, but the switch one will be pretty sweet to play on the go. Hmmm hard to decide, I did the same thing with Doom and just got it on both platforms.
Have you ever bought a game on two different platforms? |

I've done it with multiple games, primarily when I want to support a developer further, e.g. Invisible Inc and the Mass Effect trilogy.
You do you! Who cares if you buy a game you like on multiple platforms? |

Completely agree with this and it's something I've done plenty of times

As @JimbobJeffers already commented, it’s not uncommon to buy several copies of an item, even for the same platform (I’ve done so with music albums, either to keep them for myself, preserving one and listening to the other, or to give them away), if you want to support the developer or just because you’d like to spread your experience across different means of playing, as you plan on doing. Go ahead if the economic aspect doesn’t bother you
I remember buying several copies of some TRs over the years after assuming that I’ve lost the ones I thought I owned |

I think I will get it on both then. It also would be nice to really support the developers for these awesome games too.

I've done it a lot of times in the past and I'll keep doing it a lot in the future, no doubt about it.

I've bought multiple copies of the same game on the same platform I like collecting, and if i like a game enough i'll want to collect the variants of it. If you like it enough, what's the harm?

I recall reading that someone here bought 5 copies of TReboot for their "collection" i.e., collecting dust and being nothing more than duplicate spines on a bookshelf (IMO). At least give duplicates away!
Anywho, if there's some legitimate reason to buy a game on more than one console, besides for it to sit on a shelf or in a box with no real usage, I don't really see why not. I bought The Sims 3 first on consoles, then on PC (since the latter is way better and moddable). And if there are differences among versions, in terms of overall design, then buying another version seems reasonable (like buying TRU first on non-360, then on 360 so you can play the DLC). Or Splinter Cell: Double Agent, which was the weirdest case of a port I've ever seen, as the Xbox version and the 360 version were completely different games. Or TRU on home consoles and on DS, TRA on Wii vs. anything else, PC for mods, etc. |

It's completely normal. I've done this with several games. Particularly if it's a favourite game. Case in point I have all the TR games on several different platforms in different editions and I'm sure this goes for many other members here on TRF as well.

I've had Tony Hawk's pro Skater 2 on PS1, N64 and GBA.
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 & 4 on PS1 and PS2 WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2008, 2009 & 2010 on PS2 and PS3 No regrets. |
