Twin Peaks is to return to television in 2016 as a limited nine episode series. David Lynch and Mark Frost will pen every episode and Lynch will direct every episode as well. The series has been commissioned by showtime. Showtime will also re-air the first two seasons before the third season airs. http://tvline.com/2014/10/06/twin-pe...air-date-2016/ Below is a Q&A with Mark Frost about the series Television revival. http://tvline.com/2014/10/06/twin-pe...odes-spoilers/ Kyle Maclachan has confirmed that he is returning! https://twitter.com/Kyle_MacLachlan/...01373209260033 Last edited by Babou; 06-10-14 at 19:18. |

I've been waiting for this for as long as I can remember!!! This is literally the most exciting news I've had since 1995 when I learned a new Star Wars trilogy was in the making!! Twin Peaks is my all time favourite TV series! 2016 will be an exciting year for sure!!! |

I am so psyched for this. I wrote my dissertation on Lynch and Twin Peaks, I'm more exited for this than anything else. Also as a limited series I think it means that the series will be written and directed in advance. No influence from the network, just Lynch and Frost writing a near 9 hour movie
Also Americans, is showtime Cable or Network? Also Lynch will likely be shooting with film rather than digital as at the Lucca film festival he said he fell back in love with the medium! https://twitter.com/Kyle_MacLachlan/...01373209260033 Plz revive my corpse, thanks. Showtime is premium cable (you pay extra for the channel on top of whatever you pay for cable), so they are free to show as many genitals and say as many f-words as they like
Now, I have a very mixed opinion of Twin Peaks, but I think the idea of a third season should prove interesting enough to watch, considering the ultimately bizarre finale it had, I am curious about what they will do next. I wonder, was this planned? The fact that it will be 25 years later is very eerie. It must also be the longest gap between seasons of a show |

^Thank you! I hope they make similar in tone to Fire Walk With Me, so that it can deal with the darker themes that it did so well. As for it being planned I don't believe so. They had a third season planned back then and it got cancelled due to bad feedback, and they had a trilogy of films planned. One dealing with Laura Palmer's last seven days, and then one about the white lodge and one about the black lodge. The other two were cancelled though there was enough script left to make the films. Lynch then lost interest in Twin Peaks and declared the franchise dead after Mulholland Drive. (A film that was conceived as a spin-off staring Audrey Horne, and Lost Highway takes place in the same universe). Either way Frost and Lynch have been planning the revival for the last three years to coincide with the 25th anniversary. Either way the recent entire mystery boxset with the interview with the Palmer family now makes me so hyped to find out what has happened to these characters.
What has happened to Nadine? Sarah Palmer? Lucy Moran? Did Audrey survive? She was supposed to be in the third series so I'm sure she'll be in it. Only one year left to wait! |
