Can they not?
TombEditor compiles files in a specific way which can be recognized by meta2tr as "unofficial." From what I understand the author of meta2tr knew something about TR4 files that the authors of all other unofficial tools didn't and that's how meta2tr recognizes if it's working on a TR4 file built with TRLE/NGLE or not (DXTre3D, TombEditor). TombEditor happens to mix level textures with object textures as far as I understand, that might be how meta2tr can recognize them as unofficial files. Also, they're not compatible with other unofficial tools, which can't properly read textures from them. |

I don't see why you'd want to use Meta2tr with Tomb Editor anyway. Tomb Editor's export/import room kind of replaces it.

There's still some way to go for Tomb Editor before it can be said to replace meta2tr.
Regarding meta2tr supporting TE files, this is the message it gives: "Allocating meshes... This level was apparently built with unofficial tools, cannot interpret room collision data. Sorry about that!" |
