The Pelican Brief by John Grisham.

Not because I want to, mind you. But it is still a really good book. I wonder why the books that school/university forces me to read always end up being my favourites, while the ones that I voluntarily read end up being "meh"

I've chipped away at The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers for months and months. Tolkien has some beautiful writing in places, and in others prose that makes me want to quit reading immediately. His structure is just odd as well. I think I'll take a break from it and start something else. Peter Jackson's adaptation is my number two favorite film of all time, and I much prefer the films to the books. However, other stuff Tolkien did is well worth noting.
I have a short story anthology given to me from a co-worker a few weeks ago. It was published in the 80s. Sci fi stuff. Also have my nineteenth Halo novel to start, before the next batch comes this year. I doubt I'll get to them all until well into next year.

I'd like to find a new sci fi book series, an action adventure story, or go back to Harry Potter (left off last time after Goblet of Fire). This on the side of my own writing.

I read, and finished yesterday, the novelization of Silent Hill 2. I really enjoyed it, that's a shame it wasn't relased outside Japan (in fact the one I read was a translation in English).
Gosh, I'm Italian but in these months I've only read in English ...

Assassin's Quest by Robin Hobb.

Not as good as the previous two, but still pretty enjoyable. It's just too slow sometimes.

One of my favourite series, I've read all nine Farseer books multiple times and had the privilege of meeting Robin herself on a number of occasions, and got to talk with her about the books.

Currently reading Scales of Empire by Kylie Chan.
