It's a magical backpack with extremely flexible straps.

The way it handles in the final game makes me glad that it wasn't used more.

When I got onto the motorbike in Kazakhstan, one of the mercenaries ran into it and died. This makes me wonder if Crystal originally planned to put mercs on foot into the motorbike levels so that Lara could run them over.

Lots were interested in working on a dig just for a summer. Some of the best were engineers: they tended to be methodical problem solvers when it came to equipment and excavation planning.

Given what they were dealing with on-site, it would make sense to have an engineer to assess safety - remember, they were in a dangerously crumbly complex, and it collapsed when Fluffy's controller was pulled out by Amanda.

If you want nonsensical what about AoD Lara buried beneath the blocks in that one area with the rope?

Considering what Lara gets up to, I think we can throw engineers 'Health and safety' rules out the window, as there are very few survivors who deal with Lara Croft

Yes it is nonsensical, but needed

And do not forget in every TR game we also have the Nonsensical stuff of pistols having bullets that never end

Lara got her pistols from the future. They use the same mass effect field technology as the weapons in Mass Effect 1. So in reality she doesn't have infinite ammo, but her pistols can produce so many projectiles that it appears to be infinite.

Talking Jelly bean aliens

Nonsensical 2D cars down on the streets of Japan.

So how does passengers get in them? With a squeeze I suspect

The funny thing is that when you get down there, there are 3D items, like the street lighting posts, power transmission poles, and bridges that go over the roads, yet the cars are only in 2D. I suppose the angle that we are looking at the cars from roof top height, is DOWN, so no need for 3D. yet everything else is 3D.

I suspect due to the number of cars down there, it would have taxed the program if they were too complex. Also they pass through each other at crossroads, which would have been an interesting sight if they had been 3D.

Another interesting fact is that the designers left an easter egg, assuming one day we would find a way to get down there, and that is pedestrians on the sidewalks, they actually do exist

They are each made of two semi-transparent moving textures and look like animated blobs, that walk on the sidewalks in bunches and one occasionally does a kamikaze walk onto the road and gets runover by a 2D car

Have a look if you have not seen down at car level before, (I called the pedestrians Jelly Bean Aliens)....

Where does he say that?

So, I finished the game and can now wrap up this "analysis".

England: Actually not a lot to complain here except for: What's up with that sea serpent? And is the serpent during the QTE the same as before that woke up from their cage induced coma or a second one?

Nepal: One of the most illogical levels. Rutland's men went there because... why!? Rutland has no reason to think that something is there. Lara only knew this before she was there as a kid. This is just unnecessary padding since you've to fight some more mercenaries. And why is Lara's diary still in such a good condition? Shouldn't at least the paper be unreadable by the time Lara finds it again? And why does the temple collapse at the end?

Bolivia Redux: So, Rutland dies in a cutscene, despite not being present during the fight. But my main problem in this level is the last cutscene: Lara is just acting stupid there. At first she's the one who activates the portal, then Amanda tells her to pull out the sword, though Lara seems to think that Amanda is talking to Amelia, who seems to think the same. But since Lara knows what pulling out the sword causes, why didn't she pull out the sword on her side? And then she's blaming Amanda for Amelia's "death" despite Lara being the one who activated the portal in the first place. This is just stupid, selfish and arrogant!

Haha, I never noticed all these points back in 2006.. guess the tight plot standards of today's games have spoiled us!

Especially Boliva's Redux level.. Lara's rage towards Amanda really comes off as projecting her own guilt over herself being the source of her mother's death It really was Lara who set off the chain reaction and Amanda might have potentially saved the lives of everyone in the vicinity by goading Amelia into pulling out the sword. (Why it would explode if the sword wasn't pulled out is another thing I don't fully understand Maybe she was aware every Tomb Raider game needs an explosion at the end )

EDIT- More stuff I just thought about while brushing my teeth!

Lara may have experienced the dais before but compared to Amanda she really didn't know how it worked. Amanda wanted to use it to go to Avalon (in which case.. why didn't she pull out the damn sword herself??) But at the same time Lara wanted to.. travel back in time to save her mother? What did she think would happen if she inserted the sword besides 'getting answers'? She had the opportunity to save her mother right in front of her but instead caused more confusion by yelling out things her mother didn't really understand ("It's Lara, your daughter!" "What? What about my daughter?") Lara really screwed up and wasted both her and Amanda's chances to get what they want.

Also, the dais only working once can make sense plot-wise, but why would the ancient societies go to the trouble to build them and then just let them sit there while they died out? Were they aware they needed Excalibur reforged? How did they even know they were missing pieces?
