Default I Can't Get Swan Dive to Work

How do you get the swan dive to work? I don't think I'm too clueless. I can get the adrenaline dodge to work. Surely, a swan dive can't be harder. My daughter and I tried it for about 30 minutes from the top of the waterfall in The Lost Valley. I run toward the edge, hit the jump button, then quickly hit the crouch button, but Lara just jumps feet first. What am I missing? PS2 version.

It's probably your timing - you just have to be very quick at hitting crouch after jump, or else it won't work. Also, try practising on dry land first, so that you don't have to keep reloading.

Really? You can do a swan dive on the ground? I'd have never guessed that. I assumed that Lara had to be waaaay above a pool of water for that to work. OK. I'll try again.

Thanks for the reply.

Yup, you can swandive on land too. Ironically enough, Lara moves faster when swandiving continuously than when running (which is very useful for the time trials).

Yep, you can. She will hit the ground, tuck and roll, I wouldn't try it that far from the ground or it can usually lead to massive health loss or even instant death. You can also do different acrobatic combination with it too.

A good place to practice it is the mansion corridors or even outside.

I always find getting a running swan dive to work is more consistent than a standing one. But I find I can do neither as reliably as with the old TR method and as in Legend I just didn't feel confident using it in places where that alternative jump technique would have been rather useful.

Mansion corridors are an aweosme place to practice, or even jumping from where you got the wrench (in the gym) into the water below!

swan diving on the ground is faster! It took me some time to get used to swan diving too, but you just have to hit crouch almost at the same time as space...hope you get it

I finally got it. I basically have to slide my finger across the jump and crouch buttons in one quick move. Cool animation. Just too fast. It's over in a second or so. They should let you slo-mo it if you want.

Anyway, thanks for the tips.
