Thumbs up So online petitions do work.

So a fellow from the FD forum manages to draft an online statement saying how current initiatives to lable some games as sole cause of disruptive behavior was stupid. So he requested the following:

Quote:
The threats to video games are real and substantial. Just in the last few weeks, bills intended to regulate video game sales moved forward in Minnesota, Oklahoma, and Louisiana.

The underlying effect of these bills is the censorship of your video games. These penalties will discourage retailers from carrying certain games, and then, ultimately, could deter game companies from creating them.

Legislators have wasted valuable time and taxpayers' money by drafting bills which are similar to other bills that have been struck down as unconstitutional by six federal courts. Instead, they should focus on promoting initiatives to educate parents on ESRB ratings and parental controls on next generation consoles.

Critics of video games have spoken out for years, but your public officials need to hear directly from those who play video games and/or work in the industry! Please join the Video Game Voters Network to become a part of the first line of defense against legislative threats to video games.

Thank you for doing your part.

Sincerely,

Douglas Lowenstein
President
Entertainment Software Association
And well, he got his response:

The scanned letter sounds like a canned response to people who contact them about games ratings.

Good to know we can get through though.

I'd much rather that they DIDN'T have stupid have stupid ESRB ratings, which really help determine whether to get your 6 year old GTA San Andreas. Still, I don't like them.
