Maybe Lara had a matching pair of hotpants in her backpack and changed pants during the loading screen.

It's just a little Screen so I don't class it as a loading screen

The outfit change actually takes place before Lara enters the Bio-research facility. In the cutscene where she witnesses Luddick's murder, you can see she is wearing her shorts outfit. When we regain control of Lara, she's back in her full-length trousers.
I'm subscribing to the theory that she actually hacked off her trousers into shorts upon entering the hot and humid Bio-research facility, but that she kept the cast-offs in her backpack along with a sewing kit (just in case she wanted to go back to full-length some time later on ). Either that, or it's just another example of how the game, especially the latter parts in Prague, was hacked apart and stuck back together with duct tape to meet overly-tight deadlines. |
