Default Corrupt memory card

This is weird. I've got a 1GB SD card, I tried to format it this morning but it didn't work, so I deleted everything except one folder that it said was corrupted/inaccessable.

Anyway I used the camera today and took about 500mb of photos, but I can't find any of them in Windows Explorer. They show up fine on the camera's preview screen and I can scroll through them there, but they won't appear in Windows (though when I go to the drive's properties page, it does show that about 500mb of space has been used). I tried connecting the camera to the PC via USB cable instead of using my SD card reader, but the camera doesn't have a USB port on it. -_-

Any ideas? Reckon a disk recovery program might work on it? I tried Windows' default disk error check tool but it didn't do anything or detect any problems.

[edit]

NEVERMIND. I got a data recovery program and ran it, and it found the photos.
