Never had a problem with the ropes either. I've already explained how it's done in another thread. Basically :
- learn when to jump, or you'll end up overshooting
- aim slightly off to the side of the next rope, rather than trying to align Lara perfectly

And, not to brag but I've beaten the mechanical horseman several times with pistols without taking much, if any damage. It's a (very) tedious bossfight rather than a hard one.

These ropes were the reason why I quit playing TR4 as a kid. They were just way too slow, too bugged and there wasn't anything, anything fun about them. Useless, frustrating garbage. I'd gladly take Boaz and Red Ghost over any part of TR4 where ropes are important.

Oh god no I literally cried over how frustrating these bosses were

I do agree though, the rope swinging in TR4 was a nightmare, along with the tightrope and swinging abilities in TR5. If something like that is going to be included in the game, it has to be fluid, none of which were.

I don't find the ropes so hard.
A method i always use to make them stop is climb to the top of it, wait 2-3 seconds, then slide down to the bottom. That makes them stable.
Then you have to align it slightly to the right ( i think ) of where you want to go.

But i agree that the camera is a pain when swinging.

If I remember on the PC, to save, you have to release your finger on the 'hold rope button' for a split second, then this allows you to save, and then hold rope again right away.

To load the save you must keep your finger on the 'hold rope button' or Lara just falls off the rope when loaded.

This type of saving is very useful in hanging positions over lava, poisoned water, spikes, etc, like on long slope jumps where you cannot stop, but with this method you can save on a grabbed slope edge before you go up and over onto the next slope This gives you a break, and then you can continue on

(Again, when you load the save, you have to hold, so Lara does not fall to her death)
Well, what I do is to change the Action key (Ctrl by default) to some other key, for example, "s" key. So, when I save, I only need to press "s + F5", which is very convenient.
