Default TRLE Sound Editor by sapper

TRLE Sound Editor is a program to edit/create sounds.txt and create SFX and SAM files.

It can open v130 wads but cannot create SFX or SAM files for v130 wads because it uses pcwadsfx.exe to create the SFX and SAM files.

NEWEST version 1.1 here http://www.mediafire.com/download/5r...ndEditor11.zip

Version 1.1 includes built in LevelSFXCreator for v130 and normal wads. Also included in download is v130Sounds.txt.

Link to my clone of pcwadsfx which can produce sfx and sam files for v130 sounds.txt.

Hi, sapper! Thanks very much! I MUST try this!

BTW - at the moment I have problems with the shatter sound. Actually I haven't got any in the game and don't know why. I checked the sounds.txt, I think the associated sample is hit_rock.wav, isn't it? This one has got #g in the sounds.txt - so why isn't it activated in the game then? Any ideas?

Not really. Just copied what Screamer, WadMerger Sound Manager, SFX Manager and Dario's old sound programs do.

Not sure what's going on here. EssGee is my sound expert.
Have you opened your wad in my program and looked at the SFX file page to see that sound ID 347 is actually in the SFX and has the sample name listed?

Is the sample in your samples folder and have you played it in another sound program to check it's the correct sound?

A program I've found to play wav files is WaveShop. It can also be used to convert to correct sample format.
Another converter I've found is FormatFactory.

Hey folks. This is a terrific new tool that Sapper has created.
Amongst other things, it really does fill the gap that existed in other Sound FX editing programs - the ability to create a new sounds.txt file from a custom wad.
This means that it should be much easier to repair messed up wads and resolve the classic sound issues that builders experience - e.g. the underwater gurgling gun sounds, Lara missing gun sounds etc.

With the tool you should be more easily able to identify troublesome sounds and replace them.

The program grew up quite considerably from its first conception, to the point that you can create your new sam and sfx files just like in Screamer. You can of course use newly created sounds.txt files from this program with Screamer. But this sound editor will do it all in-house if you want it to. Importantly, it accepts custom named samples too.

As well as being able to fix complete level wads, you can use it on wads containing single items too.

@ Clara
For the shatter sound - Sound Bank 347 HIT_ROCK with sample hit_rock.wav should be the one you want checked in your wad. Also check that this sound bank doesn't have a Chance value as you want it being triggered 100% of the time. Are you getting any missing sample errors when you compile your TR4 file? If any samples that are required by a wad are not found when you compile your level, it may introduce errors where not all sound FX are played.
