Considering how good their “Survivor” cover was, I’d take it.

Can't argue with that

At any rate I really don't care, because the movie Sony is going to make will be bad based on everything they've done so far for it. They are trying to push something people who love the game did not ask for and it will backfire in their face, just like all videogame movies tend to do. Tomb Raider tried to push the father storyline further in the film, when he should have been dead like the game. Lara's character suffered for it and the critics caught onto that. Studios constantly make changes to the source material and then wonder why their films fail. I'm pretty much over hoping that Hollywood will stop repeating their mistakes. It will take all the old people in charge of these studios to die, before Hollywood will change IMO.
Taken isn't an adventure series. It's specifically about a retired secret spy using all of his training to find his daughter. Him being old tied into the character.

An immature 50 something year old man child that goes around exploring would look stupid. I absolutely would have LOVED to see Nathan Fillion play the character but it's just too little too late.

I also think Tom Holland is too young though... so yeah.

It doesn't matter if its not an adventure movie, that has no real relevance to what we were talking about, which was "Can an older guy be used in an action movie?". Most adventure movies have action scenes, which is why Nathan's age keeps getting brought up. I pointed to one of several examples that Hollywood will still use men past 40 for action films.

I'm not sure why we are even talking about this, none of my initial post that you first quoted had me saying they should definitely use in him in an Uncharted film. I clearly said that had it been studio backed, the action would look A LOT different. They'd have $$$ to hire several stunt actors, CGI and set up elaborate stunt pieces.

It is relevant. It's about the character. Liam Neeson's age was factored into the story of Taken. He's a divorced father who's missed the chance to properly connect with his daughter. A young actor wouldn't make any sense in that role because you needed someone to be able to look like they'd have a daughter old enough to be sold off as a sex slave.

Nathan Drake (the games anyway) is about a young and adventurous man. It would just be strange. A Thief's End also factors his age into the story but in a "It's time to grow up and put this behind me." kind of way. It also had an entire series of games leading up to Nathan becoming that age.

It would be weird for them to start with an actor who's Nathan Fillion's age. Years ago they should have, but they've missed the chance. That's all

Well obviously it isn't relevant since Sony went the complete opposite way and decided to do the adventures of teen Drake. It's pretty telling when Sony can't think of a single Hollywood actor to play a late 20's early 30's Nathan Drake, that they have to use a 20 year old and change the whole concept of the game's story to make an adaptation. Is he younger? Sure, but they now have to scrap the gunplay, fisticuffs, and huge set piece moments to make it believable that a teenager is traveling to countries and searching for treasure. Unless they make Sully the source of the action pieces, who was 40 when he first met Nathan Drake anyway...so they'd still be making an older guy an action hero.

Would it make sense to cast a guy close to 50 in an Uncharted film? To studio executives, most likely not because they probably wouldn't know how to market it among other things. Fan reactions, however, show they really wouldn't care because Nathan Fillion plays the character extremely well.

Also she was a strong candidate in 2009 for Lara Croft. But she turned down the role because of she didn't want to being compared with Angelina. Now I'm a bit suprised. It seems like she has an interest in history/arceology. She could have better career. But I am happy that she wasn't take the role.

Was there a movie planned for around that time?
