Maybe, if something were to happen (I hope it won't) Ubisoft can buy Tomb Raider From Eidos. But such a change...can it be good? |

Eidos is just a publisher, they don't really make anything.
Core should have never allowed Eidos own the rights to Lara and Tomb Raider, they wouldn't have been fired then. This isn't a complaint against CD, I think they made quite a good job on Legend, its not really the Tomb Raider I've loved and known, but its a good game none the less. I really despise the power publishers have over IP. They don't make a ****ing thing, just take advantage of it. Those guys are just a bunch of vampires who suck from people with real creative juices and talent. I suppose Core wouldn't be in this mess either if they had made the game they wanted to make. Instead we got a half assed version of old tomb raider in AOD. Last edited by Gregori; 06-12-06 at 00:21. |

seriously now, Core's mistake was allowing itself to be swallowed up in the first place,it should have remained independent but,in 1996 Eidos bought Core,10 years later they sell them off...but they pull a fast one, they keep the Core name all because of the TR IP attached to it...........Core Design hold the rights to TR, Eidos had to literally buy the name Core Design to get the TR IP copyright is a strange thing, if i'm alive in 75 years and have enough cash i'll make an offer |

No, it wasn't core's fault, eidos rushed them, it would have been a better game if they didn't rushed them. And that is always apart of business, there are always pro and cons. For me Eidos is a User, it is like they did tomb raider, they are just publishers, the developers should be incharge

Crystal Dynamics are not going to fail with the next few games so l would not get your hopes up of seeing a new developer take over the franchise any time soon. Although AOD seemed to sell well, most of that would have been preorders, and at least in Australia and America there would have been a high return rate, since so many of the early shipments were so full of bugs as to be unplayable, Legend might not have been half the game it could have been if CD had been given more time, but at least what we got not only looked good, but was also great fun to play

You could say the same for legend, it was 3 years to get that too and when the cat was let out of the bag that it was coming there were probably lots of preorders for that too. But I am trying to remain hopeful, eidos and CD are saying the right things, the pics we are seeing look promising, hopefully the AE will be a great game that will get us all to look forward to future games from CD.
But I will hang onto my stash of retaliation devices... just in case... |

Be realistic, if tomb raider AE AND tomb raider 8 went badly the tomb raider franchise would be finished......IMO, i doubt EIDOS would risk another shot with any developer, and move on to publishing more "profitable" sales.
