Don't give up, the Centaurs can be defeated.
If you have read the walkthroughs and watched the videos, but still cannot beat the Centaurs, get back to us. We may still be able to help. If you are sure that you are doing everything right, but it is still not happening, then let us know. This was me last year, with my first ever battles with the Centaurs:- ''I know that I can do this, I am not stupid, I know what to do, how to do it, and when to do it, but it is just not happening'' I read lots of walkthroughs, watched lots of videos, none of the cheats worked at all. I was totally game stuck at the Centaurs boss fight for weeks. I just could not understand why. As it turned out, I had a really unusual, horrible glitch, that would not let me beat the Centaurs, in any way. I sorted it out eventually, and the game is now a real pleasure to play. This might not be your problem, I just thought that I would mention the possibility of a technical problem or glitch. Let us know how you are getting on. |

Like you all I spent AGES on this Centaur battle.I read, and re-read all the "helpful" tips. Some were either deliberately misleading or lacking just the right nuances to properly help me in executing the right manoever,i.e.,the adrenaline dodge.
Here, for all the PC users out there is my take on doing it.It finally got me through it and my hope is it helps everyone stuck at this point. First of all,you all know that the adrenaline dodge(ad) happens on the second go round. The first is the Centaur stare with which they try and turn you to stone.Just turn away on this one,of course. Keep shooting until that red meter gets them enraged again.Stop shooting, look at them and hold the right mouse button(you don't see this tip too much),then when you see the four directional arrows appear on the screen, press and HOLD the left shift key AND the "A" button(I use "A" because the two are the closest together;let's keep it simple).Remember press and HOLD the the left shift key and "A" together. If done at the right moment, the screen will blur and that red circle will appear at one of the Centaurs heads.Immediately take one shoot, cause that is all you will get. That being done right, this will stop and stun the Centaur who will turn its inner shield towards you.The other Centaur will run around, ignore him.Press"Q" and grapple the shield, then press "E" to pull it away from him, which will fly off and onto the ground. Now do the same to the other Centaur as you have just done to the first. Once both shields lay on the ground, stand near one of the shields and keep firing until they get mad again. When they rear up,pick up the shield you are near with your "E" key. This will deflect the ray back to the Centaur and turn HIM to stone.Put the shield down(Press "E" again) and fire at the darn thing and kill it(it shatters). If you haven't fired fast enough you may have to repeat it again, but the 2nd time will definitely be the last. Repeat this again for the remaining Centaur and ....you have DONE it....FINALLY!! Again guys,I hope this helps.I spent literally hours on this spot and it frustrated me to no end just like you all.If you have any questions please feel free to email me ANYTIME at bigband98@aol.com. Put Tomb raider in the subject box.Thank you and good luck. Last edited by bigband98; 18-03-12 at 16:18. |

don't worry eventually you'll be good at it. you will have to learn it any way 'cause most bosses require the adrenaline dodge plus believe me , if you're doing time trials it can save a lot of time in several places. It took me ages to learn that adrenaline dodge but once I mastered it, no monster is unbeatable for me any more. |

I was playing on PC (Windows 7) so I am not sure if I can help. My 'glitch' was like this: For ages I did not notice anything wrong, but eventually I noticed that the Centaurs shield was floating alongside the Centaur, not attached to its arm. No matter how many times Lara died and came back, the shield would always be floating. Because the shield was floating, the grapple would not work and I was stuck in the game. I tried everything but could not get the grapple to work. The only thing I can suggest is that you look for something similar in your fight with the Centaurs. |
