Tomb Raider 2 PC and PSX betas - Now available for download!
You'll be pleased to know that betas are now allowed to be posted and publicised on this forum, so here's the links to the two TR2 betas I possess!
Enjoy! PlayStation beta (349.7MB, RAR file): Download Notes: - This is the full game... - ... but you cannot pass The Deck as a required fan will not turn off IIRC. - If you're using ePSXe, mount the MDS/MDF image in Daemon Tools, otherwise you will only get a black screen if you try to open up the image itself. PC beta (4.4MB, 7-Zip file): Download Notes: - A three-level beta (Bartoli's Hideout, Ice Palace, and Wreck Of The Maria Doria) - Using the Direct3D renderer will cause massive framerate drops on EVERY MACHINE. Use the internal 8-bit renderer instead. - If you need to reset the settings, open up "regedit" (Start > Run > regedit), then go HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Core Design, and delete the Tomb Raider II folder. The are?! Well, thanks for the links. Just a question though, is the PC beta the full game, but compressed? Because it's small. Is the psx beta full as well?
EDIT: Also, would the pc version be ready? So you can run it off without patches and multipatches etc.? Last edited by Phoebe_Croft; 12-03-09 at 08:51. |

No idea what I'm supposed to do with the PC version, but I've got them both on download.
Thanks EDIT The frame rate on the PC version's terrible >.< EDIT2 Actually, the frame rate on the PC version is really terrible, it's at 2 or 3 fps at points. Why? Any help would be appreciated if others have had this beta version running before. There was a setup screen when I first ran it, I set it up for full-screen 1024x768 32bit colour, but I can't seem to get back to it now to change anything And while I'm here, the PSX version's a bit odd in that the MDF image is 760MB, but when I mount it and look at the contents it's only 179MB. 1.- THe PC version runs at full fps even in my crappiest machine, maybe you have a problem with your DirectX version or video card drivers.
2.- Old TRs had the music as CDA tracks, hence the actual game took so little in the disk. |

I had the FPS problems with my TR2 PC beta too. I dunno, it must be something to do with later drivers.
PC beta: 3 levels PSX beta: full game, but you get permanently stuck on The Deck. |

I've got the PC version running fine now, thanks for your help Helegad.
But the PSX version has got me perplexed. I don't want to burn the MDF to a disc and have to go to all the hassle of digging out my PS2 and using my SwapMagic. So I've been trying to convert the MDF image into an ISO or BIN image so I can mount it and use it with an emulator. But the files in the FMV folder are causing problems. I can't seem to do anything with them, they cause an error in the Power ISO conversion (Incorrect Function) and, if I try to copy them manually I get the error message "Cannot copy XXX: Invalid MS-DOS function". Any help? Or have I just gotta go the long way of burning the MDF and digging out my PS2? |
