I have mixed feelings about this game.

On one hand, I adore it as I have great memories of it. It was the first TR I saw, it featured a nice variety of scenarios and the flashback feeling it has (as if you were in some timemachine, with really atmospheric periods of Lara's life) is one of the best you could ever get from a videogame, maybe even movie-like.

But on the other hand, it's short, a bit silly and doesn't appear to have been created with the same passion as the previous games (which is comprehensible, since it was made in a rush), so sometimes, I'd rather Core hadn't made the game at all and focused more on the development of AOD.

I have mixed feelings about Chronicles. I do like it but I wouldn't chose to play it unless I was really bored. Rome and Ireland are the only two sections of the game that I highly enjoy, I can live without the rest.

I see chronicles as a filler game between 4-AoD and don't actually class it as a proper main Tomb Raider game. I view it as a spin off.

Yes, Chronicles gets a bit overshadowed by the 4 games that preceded it.

I like Chronicles. Far from my favourite, but it's a fun little trip. I think it just felt tired, which makes sense considering they wanted to kill Lara off. A lot of fans picked up on that fatigue, I think.

Oddly, Chronicles is the TR game I've replayed the most. I have no explanation for that, other than that maybe it's really short?

Merging the answers, so, it seems that the point is the fact that the Core Design was too pressed by the publisher and so this is reflected into the game and on the final player. A dark, fatigued, short and buggy videogame.

Who knows what Tomb Raider could be if Eidos didn't decided to publish a short term deadline for the series? Surely now the Core Design would remained active and artistically expressive, maybe with less titles but much more dense and important... Poor Core Design. </3 How to destroy the art: ask for Eidos! :/

Ahh... I play it in the PlayStation and for PS1 is the most buggy TR that I've played. It wasn't something huge like in TRAOD and honestly I don't remember precisely the bugs (last time was about 8 years ago, I'm waiting to forget Chronicles for playing again like it is new ahah), but I remember that I have meet more bugs in this title than in the other elder titles.

VCI levels. Oh. my. god... such terrible game design. You literally have to look up what to do because you're given no clues as to where to go or defeat the cyborgs or what not.
