Not level itself, but game buffer. Game buffer has a fixed size but the engine all the time ask for some bytes, and release also them.

No, the level size can be greater. Because textures are allocated in separated buffers for example. Also samples. Even TR4 has this limit but level size could go beyond 5 MB

That would be great, as the more TR tools we can get, the easier it will be to mod or even make new TRC levels

Difficulty in modding TRC always puts me off making videos of it, as it is a real headache with crashing

In the meantime, I tend to do small mods so the game does not crash, and in this latest Youtube video of mine, instead of using three data files for three existing Spooky Island levels, I used twenty data files with small bits of different modding in each, so that it would not crash

This is OK for a video, but not as a playable level. Cheers Chi
