Default Payday 2: Sequel to Payday: The Heist

This March Overkill announced the sequel to their popular co-op shooter, Payday: The Heist. Payday 2 will come out this Summer and is being published by 505 Games.

Description from the Payday Wiki
The game was originally announced in February of 2013, where very little information was shared, other than that Overkill Software would work on the sequel, with it being published by 505 Games. In March, Overkill began giving previews of the game to major gaming publications.
According to Overkill, the game will feature 30 locations, as seen in the IGN preview . These heists will vary in length and complexity due to the new Crime Net. The skill tree system featured in the first Payday has been more fleshed out, and has been compared more to an RPG-like levelling system, with new classes: the Enforcer can carry heavier weapons, the Mastermind can negotiate and intimidate cops to make them friendly, the Ghost is a master of stealth and can disable security cameras, and the Technician class returns from the Wolf Pack DLC . Players can also use their heist rewards to purchase in-game upgrades to prepare for a mission, such as a hacking device that automatically disables shutters instead of manually tearing them down. [2]

Similar to the previous Payday, no two missions will play out the same. Enemies will be placed in different locations, the objective may be in a different room, the heist may have more objectives and thus take longer, and stealth will also play a greater role in heists.

Overkill has listened to the complaints of the previous game and are working to correct them as well. The console version of the game will be more in par with the PC version, and it will run smoother and look much better due to the larger studio and the bigger budget. [3]

Payday 2 IGN Preview

I was a big fan of the original game, it felt like a more dynamic L4D, and it took so much inspiration from famous heist movies, that it legit felt like a heist movie. The soundtrack was badass too. The first game needed a good layer of polish to make it a good game, and Overkill have stated that due to the new, larger studio and the bigger budget, that will happen.

So what do you guys think? Did you like/dislike Payday: The Heist and are you excited for Payday 2?

It's actually one of the most popular downloads on PS3 consistently since it launched. It got meh reviews though, largely because of it's disastrous launch.
